Perhaps you’ve wondered to yourself lately “where is my Justin McRoberts update?” Well, the time is now, the place is here, the update is before you.
NOTE FROM JUSTIN Since the last update, I’ve vacationed with my wife in Hawaii, served for a month at Young Life’s Woodleaf, celebrated my 10th wedding anniversary, started a new studio project, read a lot of Flannery O'Connor, fed my Twitter addiction, learned to speak Mandarin Chinese and built a bridge over the Pacific Ocean. Some of that list is untrue (I had help with the bridge) but what is entirely true is that I’ve had a stellar summer thus far; something that cannot be said for my beloved Oakland A’s.. yikes!!
I have a tendency to wrap time periods up in themes. For instance, I like to call the days between Thanksgiving and New Year’s “The Holidays.” The theme for this summer has been either “toys don’t always make good movies” or “remember why you do what you do.” I think I’m going with the latter. During my month mentoring 45 college students at Woodleaf, I remembered how important the college years are and why, for the past 8 years I've committed to play and speak on college campuses. During the process of choosing songs for the covers project, I remembered how deep music had burrowed into my soul and how powerful the arts really are. Of course, this past week, I also celebrated my marriage and remembered how much I love my wife and just how good it is to share life together. Now if I could only remember where I set my coffee down.. -justin

START OF A NEW PROJECT That’s right, Justin has begun work on an album of cover songs, currently etitled “Through Songs I Was First Undone.” The project will be made up of songs Justin has been moved by as a listener.
