Amazing, talented, captivating...those seem to be the words that are spoken over and over when someone sees Kaley perform. Even though she has rodeoed most of her life, when she was little she'd say, "should I wave on the way in or the way out?" She loves to entertain the crowd, and everyone sees it...and feels it.
Performing regularly since the age of 8, Kaley calls her performing life, "Her Olympics". She says that singing, acting, and dancing is her dream, and so she'll work as hard as she can to be able to reach some of her high set goals.
Although...it isn't a secret that she has had awesome opportunities to date already, such as singing for Wrangler's 60th Birthday party put on at the Miss Rodeo America Fashion Show in Las Vegas, and opening for Aaron Watson, Michael Peterson, and Rick Trevino. Then there are the openings for Jason and The Crabb Family, Michael English, Miss Rodeo Texas, Miss Rodeo America, Miss Waco, Fashion shows, numerous musicals, gospel shows, oprys, rodeos, fairs, and fundraisers that are all part of her resume too. Dean Smith's Celebrity Rodeo Benefits for cancer at the John Wayne Cancer Center are always at the top of her list.
Her love of musicals and dancing has led her to be in over 15 musicals with the community theaters in her area, along with being a D.J. twice a week for a local radio station, and co-starring in a weekly, local TV show that is produced and written as a positive outreach for kids in junior and senior high schools.
Kaley loves to mentor a group of girls in her area. They are all part of a program called "Ambassadors". She gives her time and input into these girls, trying to show them the reasons for being a good role model and "thinking things through". Kaley wants them to understand that your life always affects others, and to do what is best. She says that it is time well spent when you're investing in others' lives. That is one reason that Kaley's favorite songs she likes to sing encourage the heart. She says that every word she sings has a meaning and could leave an impression. Involved in many other programs that help others, Kaley has been an independent artist for World Vision, and is currently working with a program through her church called Motion. It is a group of kids that go out and through song, dance and drama share the gospel and try to encourage youth to participate in local church groups and events.
Songwriting began a few years ago when Billy Austin, (Leave the Pieces, 99.9% Sure), told her that he'd like to work with her, write with her and help her get started. She was elated! He was such an integral part of her development. They have several songs they've finished, with many more on the way. "You Loved It Away" is one of the latest, but, "In My Jeans" was written and performed for Wrangler's Birthday party last year! One of the songs she and Billy wrote, Unloved, was on hold for Carrie Underwood! Kaley is hoping that she'll be able to release that herself soon! She also has written with Dave Robbins, who was formerly the keyboard player with Blackhawk, Brad Hull, and Tom Worth, all of Nashville.
Last fall Kaley got to meet up with Brent Rowan. Brent is a well-known producer in Nashville. He produced Blake Shelton and Joe Nichols and she was very excited he'd even consider her! He is also known as the "most sought after guitar player" in Nashville and is often up for awards. Brent has worked with Kaley and her songs to produce them in a way that is wholesome, great music and great vocals. They are planning several projects together, and some that are in the works now....so keep watching, and stay tuned!
Kaley's love of performing the National Anthem started at an early age when she asked the president of the local youth rodeo association if she could sing the National Anthem at the next rodeo. She was 9 years old and has been a regular ever since. At the age of 10 the athletic director from Baylor University heard Kaley sing the anthem and set it up for her to audition for the sporting events at Baylor, and she has been a regular there ever since.
Once Kaley was told by a manager in the music field that singing the National Anthem did not promote her career and that she shouldn't schedule those events in case "something better came up." Although she was just 13 years old, she said to her parents, that she wanted to sing it because there were so many men and women giving to our country, and this was a way that she could too. She went on to say that it wasn't about promoting her, it was about promoting the USA and all the people that live here.
Kaley has had the great opportunity to sing the National Anthem at numerous Baylor games, rodeos, fundraisers, and sporting events. She was named the "National Anthem singer for Woodway" one year, and for "Little League". She received membership as an honorary Young Marine and a Junior Texas Ranger for her patriotism and singing the National Anthem. Kaley sang twice for the O'Reilly Nationals at the Texas Motorplex for over 50,000 people and was highly honored to sing for Vice President Cheney in 2004 and the John McCain Campaign in May 2008.
Kaley has sung many times for the troops and many political events. Her love of America and all that it stands for shows through her songs, her voice, and her heart. Her love of music shines through her voice, her performance, and her life.
