Who is Kelli Ali.....................by Kelli Ali I was born in Birmingham 1974 given the name Kelli Dayton. I had a happy childhood, daydreaming and watching out for UFO's. Began to learn to play the violin at 9 years old but after two years of my cat's, the neighbours and my tutor's complaints, I quit. Was a rebellious teen, Quit school at 14 Worked in bars, rehearsal studios and hairdressers for a while, enjoyed listening to music, drinking, smoking, going to gigs,writing poems and hanging out with arsonists, thugs and anyone who looked like trouble. Had my first tattoo, bought my first electric guitar and Joined my first band when I was 16 Sang and wrote with bands and musicians in Birmingham and started playing around the UK in dive bars and anywhere that would have us. Went on the dole to give me more time to write songs and play gigs. Studied a bit of art and photography part time as a ruse to avoid hastle from the dole office. Joined a band called Sneaker Pimps in 1995. Sang lead vocals on the album 'Becoming X' and toured the world for a couple of years with the band. Was dismissed from Sneaker Pimps in 1998 as the rest of the band decided they wanted the lead guitarist, Chris Corner to become the lead vocalist. After that............. I changed my recording name from Kelli Dayton to Kelli Ali. My dad's name was Micky Ali but he'd died just before Sneaker Pimps hit the airwaves for real. I changed my name so that a part of him would stay alive in me. I retreated to a little flat in North London where I worked on my own songs for some time and where I was to live for the next seven years, also spending time in L.A. Studied Japanese, Kung Fu, Taoism, hung out with friends in London, lots of bars, art exhibitions,The Opera and concerts. I was signed by One Little Indian Records and V2 in 2001 and Made my debut solo album Tigermouth in 2001 with Rick Nowels and Marius De Vries, Charles Judge and Wayne Rodriguez in Cambridge U.K. and L.A. California. Due to bad management and court proceedings between V2 and One Little Indian Records, Tigermouth's release in 2003 was plagued by lack of promotion and support. i worked with other artists including, Bootsy Collins, Satoshi Tomiie, Millenia Nova. I made my second solo album Psychic Cat, in 2003 with Dave McCracken. Psychic Cat was released in 2004 on One Little Indian U.K. and U.S. and licensed on other labels worldwide.

Kelli Ali : Butterfly : Album Release : Pre-Order

With Spring on its way and the bright wings of summer finally visible on the horizon, I will be releasing a Limited edition acoustic album called 'Butterfly' on April 1st 2009.

My Butterfly album is a collection of ten acoustic tracks inspired by my live set.
The album includes brand new songs such as the title track 'Butterfly' and 'Throw It To The Dogs' and acoustic versions of some songs on the Rocking Horse album such as our sublime soundtrack to summer ‘One Day At A Time’ and the dark and devilish 'Rocking Horse'.
We also re-visited 'Wings in Motion' from my Tigermouth album and 'Willow’s Song' from 'The Wicker Man' film soundtrack.

Kelli Ali: WTT Giveaway Free Acoustic version of Rocking Horse!

To coincide with Kelli's release of 'The Savages' D/L single, the very cool and much respected music and arts magazine Wears The Trousers have featured Kelli's acoustic version of her song 'Rocking Horse' in their Free Music Friday. So you can go and download the song for free!

'Rocking Horse' is the title track from Kelli's 'Rocking Horse album' and this acoustic version of the song which Kelli recorded with her new band is included on The Savages download single. Also included on the single is an original cover of 'Willows Song' from the haunting 'Wicker Man' soundtrack.

Kelli Ali: Headline Gig: The Slaughtered Lamb: 4th February 2009

I will be playing a headline gig at The Slaughtered Lamb/ Electro Acoustic Club on the 4th February.
Me and my new band will be playing songs from my album Rocking Horse and we will also be playing some new songs never heard before.

This will be our first gig in London of 2009
