  Press Release: Kellie Pickler To Launch Sophomore Album On Today Show

  September 30 Performance Kicks-off Busy Quarter That Wraps on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve

   

  NASHVILLE, TN – With nearly 800,000 albums sold on her debut album Small Town Girl, CMA New Artist of the Year nominee Kellie Pickler is excited to christen the release of her self titled, sophomore album on Tuesday, September 30 when she performs on The Today Show.

   

  Kellie returns to the Today Show where she kicked off her first album nearly two years ago, and she visited the show again last December. On her return visit Kellie said, “The last time I was on the show they were doing a pet adoption segment and a Chihuahua peed on me. I can’t wait to find out what the next adventure will be,” she laughed. “Seriously, I’m so proud of this album, and I can’t wait to share it,” she continued.

   

  Her Today Show performance begins a very busy fourth quarter for Kellie in which she will make numerous national television appearances including a year end stop in Times Square that will reunite her with American Idol host Ryan Seacrest as a correspondent on Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve. Kellie will also spend October and November on the road with CMA Entertainer of the Year nominee Sugarland.

   

  Driven by the hit single, “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful,” the new album features five songs written by Kellie including “Best Days Of Your Life,” a song she co-wrote with good friend Taylor Swift. Never one to hide her feelings, Kellie lays bare the hurt from a broken relationship with the searing ballads, “I Just Want Somebody To Love Me,” and “One Last Time.” On the brighter side is "Going Out In Style," a fitting follow-up to her Top 15 hit, "Red High Heels." The new song was inspired by a shopping trip to the shoe department at Saks 5th Avenue.

  Kellie Pickler's Self-Titled, Sophomore Album Out Sept. 30

  NASHVILLE, TN - Almost two years since the release of her debut album, Small Town Girl, which has sold nearly 800,000 copies, Kellie Pickler is set to release her self-titled, sophomore album on September 30.

  
  

  "I'm so excited and proud of the new album," said Pickler. "I've learned so much since the first album, like the fact that Budapest is the capital of Hungary," she laughed. "The material on the new album is part small town girl, but also a reflection of the experiences I've had over the last two years. I've matured, some, seen a lot more of the world, and naming the album Kellie Pickler says, ‘this album is me, this is who I am and where I am,'" she continued.

  
  

  The album's lead single, "Don't You Know You're Beautiful," is an up-tempo, positive message about inner beauty and addresses the issues of body image and societal pressures on young women. Other songs on the album include "Best Days Of Your Life," a song she co-wrote with her pal Taylor Swift while on the road together last year. Taylor recently joined Kellie in studio to record background vocals on the song.

  
  

  The album will also feature "Rocks Instead Of Rice," a song that Kellie wrote with "Before He Cheats" writers Chris Tompkins and Josh Kear and has been performing on the road this summer. It's a tongue in cheek look at a woman at the wedding of a former boyfriend and how much more gratifying the experience would be if the guests were throwing rocks instead of rice.

  
  

  Produced by Chris Lindsey, this album allowed Kellie to enjoy the process of making an album, whereas Small Town Girl was recorded while Kellie was on the American Idol Tour, so she didn't have the ability to be as involved. With Kellie Pickler, she's been part of the creative process from the beginning, working with Lindsey on arrangements, instrumentation and song selection.

  
  

  Leading up the September 30 release of Kellie Pickler, she is spending the summer on tour before co-hosting and performing on the CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock, which will air on September 8 on ABC.

  KELLIE PICKLER SWEETENS ACM AWARDS WITH

  “DON’T YOU KNOW YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL”

  
  LAS VEGAS, NV -- To the backdrop of a national television audience and a packed house at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, BNA Records artist Kellie Pickler debuted “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful,” the first single from her forthcoming sophomore album.
  
  Wildly received, the positive “girls’ anthem” impact was immediate.  Online chat rooms and fan sites began buzzing following her performance.
  
  Although the song was not set to ship to radio until the end of the month, BNA is responding to the demand, and “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful” will be available to radio Monday afternoon via the MPE delivery system.  Additionally, the label is burning “white label” copies of the song to overnight a physical copy to radio, as well.
  
  A recent triple-winner at the fan-voted CMT Music Awards, Kellie is thrilled to have new music to offer radio and fans, and after putting the finishing touches on her new album and performing at the CMA Music Festival, Kellie will spend the summer taking her new music on the road.  Look for her sophomore album to be released in early fall.
