So you want to know a little about The Ken DeRouchie Band, huh? The Ken DeRouchie band is a 9 piece Funk/Soul/R&B band that features a 3 piece horn section and huge grooves. The band currently has 2 full length CD's released through Burnside Distribution and is looking to release #3 in 2005.
KDB has played hundreds of live shows all over the west coast in the past 9 years including shows with Cheap Trick, Blood Sweat and Tears, The Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Mary Wilson and the Supremes and many others. The band has appeared live on many radio stations and TV shows as well.
In 1998 KDB released a single called "Keep On Walkin" nationally that stayed on the "Gavin Up and Coming" charts for 12 weeks. This lead to a lot of Major label interest as well as movie sound track inquiries. In 1998 KDB joined the then fledgling MP3.com and uploaded a pre-production recording of their song "Hangin with my Baby" that DeRouchie wrote for his daughter. This song became the featured download on the main page of MP3.com as well as the number 1 Soul chart on MP3.com for over a week. This song was re-recorded and released on their follow-up 2000 recording entitled Y2KDB. Hangin' with my baby was then regionally released as a radio single and is one of the most requested songs in the band's live show.
In 2004 the band was featured on the highly publicized "Oregon Bus Project" CD along side of other Portland veterans such as Art Alexakis from Everclear and Pink Martini.
The band went through a major personnel shift in 2004. We lost 8 year veteran KDB drummer Eric Storm when he left to go full time with Geoff Byrd. DeRouchie and long time bassest Rob Busey were the only remaining original members. They brought on virtuoso guitarist Jeff Knudson and 2 time Grammy Nominated Drummer Steve Moretti as well as a whole new, revitalized horn section featuring Clayton Daffron on tennor sax. The last piece of the puzzle was a female vocalist that had the voice and the look to co-front this band with DeRouchie. The answer was Erika Sullivan, 24 year old blond beauty with a voice for days. The band is currently talking to investors to procure financing for their next recording project.
