Composed of members Ill Bill, Slaine, Everlast, Danny Boy and DJ Lethal La Coka ain't rapping for the Hollywood set even if you see them on the mean streets in the city of angels. “This cliques individual accomplishments are enough to write a book on but that’s not important right now,” says La Coka Capo Danny Boy O’Connor adding, “The past is the past and LCN is all about the future”. With guest appearances from people as diverse as Snoop Dogg, Bun B, Immortal Technique, B Real and Psycho Realm and largely produced by resident genius DJ Lethal the boys toxic dose of ass whipping is set to be unleashed on the unsuspecting public this July 14th. Band member Ill Bill aka The Cult Leader says “This record is a no holds barred burst of hardcore hip-hop to the fullest, representing everything we love about this art form but feel is missing from the game right now.” He adds, “We know a lot of you feel the same way we do, so we're using our voice to speak for those that may not have this opportunity. We are thier voice”. I was inspired by my younger brothers in arms Ill Bill and Slaine to stomp some ass and have some fun,” says rap veteran Eric ‘Everlast’ Schrody. “After hanging with the crew I knew it was time to put the rap game in a chokehold real fast again. I was inspired to put down my 6-string for a hot second and school these cornballs out here on how to get ugly with it one more time. I’m as proud of this record as any record I ever worked on. I can’t wait to see our fans’ reactions.” In speaking about “A Brand You Can Trust”, the rap Boston strangler Slaine had this to say, “When we first started recording tracks for La Coka, we knocked a lot of joints out at once, and there was a lot of hype and buzz around the project and the group. We started leaking those tracks to feed the hunger that was out there, but in the meantime I think we raised the bar and created an expectation level within the group to really make a dope record. While we were on the Bring Tha Noize tour, I had the headphones on and listened to the final version of the album sequenced, mixed and mastered, and bugged out at how good it is. This shit bangs. We set out to make a boom bap hip-hop record and we did that, but to stop there would be selling it short, because lyrically, musically, and sonically this album doesn't fit in a box.
