Lesley Roy

Lesley Roy was born in 1987 in Dublin, Ireland. Roy's mother, who performed in wedding bands, has been a big influence on the young rocker. Lesley first learned how to play the trumpet, followed by the saxophone, then fell in love with the guitar. With her mother's heavy musical influence at such a young age, it's no wonder that she has been playing the guitar since she was 10 and writing rock songs at the age of 14. The twenty-one year old, who currently lives in Balbriggan, a suburb of Dublin, was discovered by Jive Records after recording a demo with Religion Music, a local independent label. Lesley is signed exclusively to Religion Music for a six-album worldwide record and publishing deal. This exciting new singer possesses formidable song writing ability with gritty, deeply personal lyrics that defy her young age. Her first single entitled "I'm Gone, I'm Going" was produced by the executive producer of the album, Max Martin. On her debut album, which has taken 2 years to complete, Lesley has also worked with industry pros Desmond Child (Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Kiss, Robbie Williams), Dave Hodges (Evanescence, Kelly Clarkson, Celine Dion), Brian Howes (Hinder, Daughtry), Dr. Luke (Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Sugababes), Nord/Hansen (The Rasmus) & Chris Lord-Alge (Green Day, My Chemical Romance, U2, Pussycat Dolls). About her debut album Unbeautiful, Lesley says, "There are a couple of themes that run through the album, evolving around the many different aspects in relationships, whether it is loss of love, not wanting to be in love, trying to help a friend through their own issues...unrequited love and the happiness and excitement of being in love." "I mostly like to write my lyrics from a personal point of view, but have found it was also useful to write from a storytelling side as well. I have observed situations and made them into my own little stories like short films. I love writing and performing and can't wait to start playing for all the people that have showed their support..." After the release of her album, Lesley hopes to go on tour and have fans from all over the world singing along to her songs such as "Psycho Bitch" and "Unbeautiful." Lesley Roy is poised to become the newest international rock singing sensation.

Lesley Roy's street team is up and running and we need your help!

We're really psyched about the launch of a street team for Lesely, but we jumped the gun and have no clever team name. What do YOU think it should be?

We also need your help letting radio stations know that you want to hear Lesley's single "I'm Gone I'm Going" . So, we cooked up this contest:

Give us your team name suggestions, and we'll pick our favorite. What do you get in return? Not only will we announce to all of Lesley's friends on myspace that you are the genius behind the new name, but we'll put you in the first slot of her top friends for a month. PLUS a thank you note from Lesley herself.

How to enter:

1. Sign up for Lesley's street team through the form on her myspace page here

2. Use our handy list here (myspace blog) to call or email your local radio station and ask for I'm Gone I'm Going.

3. Leave a comment on her page with the name of the station you reached out to, and your idea for a street team name.
