Like all great bands, Little Man Tate are a gang, possessed with a hedonistic, good time ethos that bonds the four together. They formed through genuine friendship rather than through classified ads in the back of the music press, all playing Sunday league football together in Sheffield and writing songs in Jon’s bedroom. They’re as much at home on the terraces of Hillsborough (Jon - singer and Ben - bassist) and Bramall Lane (Maz - guitarist and Dan - drummer) as at the bar in The Boardwalk (where Jon worked in the box office). And from humble, everyday surroundings, in thrall of the sounds of Pulp, the Roses, the Pistols and Blur, formed for the simple pleasure of playing gigs they ended up making extraordinary music with 2007's About What You Know.
