LJOVA (a.k.a. LEV ZHURBIN) is a New York-based violist, composer and arranger. Born in Moscow, Russia, he is the son of the composer Alexander Zhurbin and the poet Irena Ginzburg. Ljova is a graduate of the Juilliard School where he was a viola student of Samuel Rhodes. Presently, Ljova is working with Yo-Yo Ma and his Silk Road Project, as well as with the Kronos Quartet, as a music arranger for various projects. He is also composing scores to several films in progress. And in his spare time, he creates his "own" music, primarily focusing on genre-bending works for viola, frequently employing multitrack recording techniques.
