Lucie Silvas is a British singer/songwriter born in Surrey, London. She spent her childhood in her fathers native Auckland, New Zealand with her Scottish Mother Isabelle and two sisters Mia and Nikki. Lucie Started playing the piano and writing songs from age 8 and was influenced by her parents love of Motown, Gospel and soft rock. Both her and her sisters all played instruments and would often sing together at local events as well writing songs together at home. One of Lucie's best early experiences was duetting with Lionel Richie at his Radio two show in London "I grew up listening to all his music, back when he was with Commodores too, it's insane to have been on stage with him, I was humbled and honored" At 17 Lucie Met british singer Judie Tzuke whilst attending college with her step-daughter Annie Muggleton and they instantly became friends and co-writers. Judie asked Lucie and Annie to sing Bvs for her on her Uk tours and Lucie was thrilled at the chance to go on tour for the first time. Judie saw the potential in Lucie as a performer and together with her husband Paul-they worked with her on many of her recordings until 1998 when she signed to EMi records as a solo artist. Shortly before signing her deal she met Take that frontman Gary Barlow by chance and he asker her to tour with him on his solo dates across Europe. "It was my first insight into the way the world of pop worked-promoting yourself and experience the immense amount of work and traveling that goes into it". Gary and Lucie became friends and started writing together also later having cuts with various other artists. Success wasn't a fast ride for Lucie though, It wasn't until she signed to Universal in 2003 that Lucie's career started on a promising path. She started work on her album with Producer Mike Peden who she had written with many times before on tracks for Will young, Gareth gates, Liberty X, S club 7 and Michelle McManus. They spent the better part of 7 months writing, recording and working harder than ever on what was to become Lucie's debut album "Breathe in". "Breathe in" was released in October 2004 after the first single "What you're made of" reached number 7 in the UK charts. That first single went on to have number ones in Holland, spain and France-Her duets with local artists like Gregory Lemarchal and Antonio Orozco also made her music widely well-known to European audiences. After the title track of the album was released a few months later and reaching number 6 in the UK charts, the album then rushed back up the charts and achieved platinum status. Meanwhile her popularity was growing outside the Uk with huge album sales across Europe and tours of Spain, Germany, France, South East Asia and ofcourse the UK and Ireland. "Breathe in" went on to sell 1 million copies worldwide without being released in the US. "What has always meant the most to me is being out on the road, i wouldn't swap it for anything-you wanna be up there playing the songs you wrote, having a blast with the band and seeing the faces of the audience who put you up there" After months of touring Lucie began work on her second album. She went to meet with Coldplay Producer Danton Supple and played him the songs she had been writing whilst on the road with her band. Danton and Lucie hit it off immediately and were excited about trying something new for her audience. They recorded her second album "The same side" at Trevor horns studio in the countryside of England. "All the piano parts I played were on the paino that use to belong to Freddie Mercury, the pressure was on!, recording this album was a truly freeing and exciting experience" "The same side" was then released in January 2007 whilst she was enjoying success with her number single in Holland with Marco Borsato "every time I think of you". She embarked on another tour around Europe performing songs from both albums. Lucie Success as a songwriter has also been parallel to her career as a solo artist. She co wrote"Who am I" which was a huge song and radio hit for Will Young as well as penning 18 other singles and album tracks for artists around Europe. She has written 3 songs on the New album by US artist Katharine Mcphee as well as having songs recorded by US artist Kimberly Caldwell. She also wrote two songs for the first American idol move where Kelly Clarkson sang one of Lucie's songs. A year after promoting died down from her second album, Lucie decided on a brand new adventure-to move to the states. She has been between Nashville, LA and New York working on and recording new material. She has spent the most of 2009 in the Us whilst doing frequent trips back to Europe for shows and other projects. Her album is being recorded in the states and new tour dates for 2010 are now on the horizon.
