Lunaractive, an Oregon-based punk/metal influenced power-rock quartet, released their second recorded EP, Synthesis, on November 19th 2004. After a year in pre-production and final recording, the bands new accomplishment opens a gateway for the band to begin doing what they set out to do: be heard. Partnering with producer Tony Esperance (Papa Roach), Lunaractive and Esperance both are confident that this album will not go unnoticed as it now begins to invade the industry. Lunaractive released their first cd in February of 2003, entitled Intergalactic Samurai. They played nearly 30 shows all over the state of Oregon until the end of the summer of 2003 when they decided it was time to write the best album they could. During that time they won first place against 20 competitors in the Real Deal Battle of the Bands in Salem, were chosen by a panel of judges to be showcased at the Oregon State Fair, and played several shows in Portland at well known venues such as the Roseland Theater and the New Parris Theater. Lunaractive was selected to participate in the New York International Music Festival in Los Angeles in March of 2004. Their song Sho-Down, an aggressive ode to cheesy kung fu films, was featured song of the day on Garageband.com, and was awarded #17 all time Best metal lyrics, and #22 all time most original metal song (both versus 7,098 other songs by bands all over the world). Also, the epic track Going Home made 179th place of 7,098. Musicrefuge.com also will be featuring the band on their website in December of 2004, as have many other online music resources including Punktrigger.com who in a review of Lunaractive’s first cd said, “…these boys show that they are indeed accomplished musician and songwriters, able to compete with the best of them... this band could easily make it into the big league.” Lunaractive’s sound is one of a kind, but highly inspired by many bands old and new, known and unknown. Combining involved 2-part guitar riffing with three part vocal harmonies, Lunaractive is known for writing songs that are often described as epic and opera-like. One reviewer said, each song is like a sound-scape of its own. Dubbing themselves at one time as “punk-ninja-sci-fi- metal”, Lunaractive loves to use imagery of ninja warriors and robotic warfare in their lyrics. But a better description of their sound would be highly melodic, metal-influenced choir rock. Lunaractive likes to go above average in all that they do, from explosive stage performance down to the scruple of writing thought-provoking lyrics.
