On December 23, Marc Broussard will be performing a Benefit Show for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana. Tickets are available HERE.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana works to establish and support mentoring relationships to underpriviledged youth. These mentorship relationships help children by providing support and guidance through positive adult role models. MARC BROUSSARD and WORLD HUNGER YEAR This Friday, October 16, Marc will be performing at The Concert Hall in New York City. To support the Artist Against Hunger & Poverty program, World Hunger Year (WHY) will be at the show to raise funds and awareness about hunger and poverty. Through the Artists Against Hunger & Poverty (AAHP) program, WHY enlists performing artists to take a stand through music. The program helps to raise funds and awareness for the most innovative and effective community-based organizations working to combat hunger and poverty. Marc is taking a break from writing his new album to play intimate acoustic shows with a few of his dear friends. His long time drummer, Chad Gilmore, will be joining him on percussion and Sons of William front man, Joe Stark, will be joining them on guitar. They will be revisiting some of Marc's earliest material, as well as give you a taste of what's to come on the new album. They'll also be performing at smaller, more intimate venues. • Gulf Coast Action Alert!This August 29th work with Gulf Restoration Network & Help the Nation Learn the Lessons of the Storms
Do you believe it's almost been four years since Hurricane Katrina, and then Rita rocked the Gulf Coast? One clear message in the wake of these storms is that New Orleans and South Louisiana need to have natural storm defenses, like wetlands, barrier islands and cypress swamps to keep the area safe. Due to a national need for dependable shipping and flood control on the Mississippi as well as oil and gas production from the Gulf of Mexico, Louisiana loses a football field worth of wetlands every 45 minutes. Gone. Turned to open water, and making New Orleans more vulnerable to future Katrina-like events. Even after the flooding of New Orleans we have seen very little progress on rebuilding wetlands to restore Louisiana's coast and protect communities. Marc is working with the non-profit group, the Gulf Restoration Network, to help remind the nation, Congress, and the Corps of Engineers that we need to restore Louisiana's wetlands now! There is no better time than August 29th. Can you invite your friends and family over for a home screening of the powerful documentary, Paradise Faded: The Fight For Louisiana?

Today, Paste Media Group, publisher of the two-time National Magazine Award nominee Paste Magazine & PasteMagazine.com, will launch an online fundraiser to keep the magazine functioning in the midst of the global financial recession.
As a completely independent magazine, Paste has struggled for the past nine months as advertisers have decided to wait on buying ads in response to the recession. Last month, cash received unexpectedly reached an all-time low, and turned a tough situation into a short-term crisis.
Rather than shut its doors, Paste is launching a reader appeal today to help save the magazine. Many of the artists who’ve been covered by Paste over the years—folks like Marc Broussard, William Fitzsimmons, Ari Hest, Neko Case, The Decemberists, Of Montreal, She & Him, Josh Ritter, The Avett Brothers, Brandi Carlile and the Indigo Girls—have donated rare and exclusive tracks to give to anyone who donates to the cause. Two of the tracks were recorded specifically for the campaign. Plus Sixthman has donated an ocean-view cabin on next year's Cayamo Cruise, and bands like R.E.M. and Band of Horses have donated signed posters to be given away to random supporters.
While the current situation is dire, long-term, Paste expects to emerge from the recession in good shape. 2008 was the magazine’s best year across the board—print subscribers, print ads, online readers and online advertising were all at record levels. PasteMagazine.com consistently draws more than 900,000 visitors each month, and the magazine has grown into the third largest rock magazine in the world.
