Born in New York City in 1957, Mark Newstetter was 9 years old when he got his first guitar. He began his career in 1975 when at the age of 17 he was performing several times a week in various Greenwich Village coffee houses and bars including Folk City, The Dugout and The Village Corner as a singer songwriter. A few years later he relocated to the west coast and continued his solo work while also playing guitar, bass, keyboards and singing in a series of bands and collaborations in L.A. and San Francisco including The Pitts, Elliot Schneider and the Banned, The Hanks with Steve Farzan, Acoustica, the Cherie Lebow Band and Doug Stevens & The Outband. Currently lead guitarist with Pearl River.
