MASHED POTATOES are a four piece band from the area of Leiden/The Hague in The Netherlands. Their music is influenced by the best of five decades of pop music. Both fans and critics rave about their ability to write catchy, well-crafted and meaningful songs. Musical inspiration is provided by such different styles as beat, soul, rhythm & blues, powerpop and (alternative) rock. The music of Mashed Potatoes is somewhat comparable to the slightly offbeat poprock of The Ben Folds Five, Fountains Of Wayne, Presidents Of The USA and They Might Be Giants. On stage, Mashed Potatoes are a hard working rock band. Key words: strong ensemble playing, high energy and lots of fun! In their home studio, the band members take full advantage of modern computer technology and work hard on every detail of their tracks. In the ten years of existence, Mashed Potatoes released two records and a mini-cd, the most recent ones through Spanish independent Munster Records. They performed in almost every venue in the Netherlands and also gigged in Spain, America and Germany.
