Four guys from Nashville, Tennessee are taking over the world, and no one suspects a thing. The four guys in question are all part of Mass Transit, a pop/rock group from Middle Tennessee. The group formed in May of 1999, and consists of Middle Tennessee State University alumni Ryan Acree on drums, Scott Munsell on guitar, Justin Smith on vocals and keyboards and current MTSU student Daniel Harrington on bass. Mass Transit feels their strongest asset is a dynamic and intense live show. They are ready for anything and can play for hours on end, reinforcing their original music with carefully chosen covers. "The band played two hours and fifteen minutes of non-stop, incredible music. The sound was perfect, the musicians were perfect, and the intensity with which they played made a marked impression on us. All we wanted to know after the show was 'When and where for next time?'" says one excited fan. Now, after seasoning themselves with over 50 southeastern US shows including venues such as both Memphis and Nashville's Hard Rock Cafés, they are ready to prove themselves again and again as an exciting and entertaining live act. Mass Transit is also busy promoting the upcoming release of their debut album "Am I Not Invisible?" due in early Fall of 2001. Says new convert Kyle Thomas about Mass Transit's live performance in The Daily Mississippian, "Bored with life?... The solution is a kick ass rock n' roll show that you and everyone else in your fine little town should pack up the kids to go see... [Mass Transit is] one of the most blatantly talented bands I've ever seen... They combine powerful melodies with classical intelligence. The sound ranges from U2's experimental noise to a straight ahead alt-rock groove. Mix in a little funk and some upbeat Pink Floyd... and that is probably the best way this writer could sum up the force that is Mass Transit." Will Lerner of Listen.Com says: "Although the vocalist sings 'I was locked up and labeled violent,' [in their song A Simple Man] one has a hard time believing him as the music of Mass Transit is filled with charming pop hooks and a fair amount of anthemic refrains, somewhere between U2's more ambitious numbers and Del Amitri's light confections. They throw in some rootsy guitar grit as well." With both Memphis and Nashville radio stations spinning their first single, "You", Mass Transit looks forward to reaching new fans, playing more shows, and taking their great original music to a new level.
