If you haven't found a good enough reason to pre-order my new cd, Under Summer Sun yet, here's my last attempt at wooing you-
YOU CAN NOW PRE-ORDER "UNDER SUMMER SUN" ON ITUNES!!
Yep, it's true- and you'll still get 'Where We Started', the 7 song acoustic EP, but not until September 16th, when the album comes out!
Also- I'm going to be headlining some shows in the Midwest in October (or ROCKtober, as I like to call it). I'll have a band with me and we'll be playing some of the new tunes- so see if we're anywhere close to you and come say hey!
Want to hear one of the new songs from the CD? I posted a song called 'Keep Faith' that I wrote after talking with one of my friends who was really hurtin' after a broken relationship. I wanted to encourage her toward what she knows to be TRUE. Give it a listen and let me know what you think! I can't wait for y'all to hear the rest of it!

i just bit into a sandwich and i think i ate a fly. yep. sitting outside at one of my favorite coffee spots in Nashville, soaking up tha 615 before heading out on tour this fall, and apparently the word just got out among the fly community that I have something they are looking for. Awesome.
'What's this tour you speak of?' i hear you asking... well let me tell you-
I've been given the amazing opportunity to go out in support of two different artists this fall, Gavin DeGraw for the next 3 weeks, and O.A.R. after that! Needless to say, I'm really excited and wanted to let you in on the goodies. If you're in or around any of the following cities, come out and see us! It should be a really fun fall- oh yeah, and my record, "Under Summer Sun" comes out on September 16th!! BRING IT!

totally jumping wake while listening to 'Leavin' by Jesse McCartney.
I'm not even joking.
I can't stop listening to this dang song.

My nana is dying.
You cant negotiate with death. There is no bartering with it. It is
totally inconsiderate of everyone it involves.
I’ve been confronted with death one other time, with my Papa Doc.
That time it came out of nowhere- we all felt a bit violated in the
swiftness of it’s movement. One minute he was with us, the next he
wasn’t.
Nana is different. We’re having time to get used to it before it
actually comes around. We’re actually able to cozy up to it and become
friends with it this time. Strange. There is healing, though.
Reconciliation is happening. Things are being resolved that for years
hadn’t been.
She’ll leave with us Poppy. It made me sad to see my Poppy alone in
their kitchen. Staring at the floor. It made me sad to see him
sitting next to her in the hospital. I wonder what will happen when
Nana dies? What will he do?
60 years. Over.
Seeing them together makes me want what they have. It makes me want to
spend 60 years with someone. Collect memories with someone. Have
children and watch them have children. I want it.
Also, somehow all of this reminds me that this life- the one I’m
living right now- is for REAL. This is it. I know that sounds cliché &
like something you’d see on a high school guidance counselor’s wall,
but we really don’t live like it’s gametime. At least, I haven’t been.
And why does it take someone dying to get everyone together for 2
days? We can take a day off work, spend the $300, push pause on life
& go be with the people we love. I want to believe that it doesn’t
require a national holiday or someone dying to bring people together.
I also pray that it doesn’t take a person dying for people to start
communicating their hearts and what the person means to us, or to
finally forgive someone- or to ask someone’s forgiveness. But a lot
of times it DOES take that.
That’s why I love John Mayer’s ‘Say’. It’s so poignant. So profound in
it’s simplicity. He’s speaking the truth.
How did such a soft, sensitive guy like Poppy attract such a strong,
bull-headed woman like Nana? However he did, I’m thankful, because had
he not, I would not be.
And so it goes.
This is it.

It's Wertz. Ever been referred to as a 'party person' before? No? Well, congratulations! I hope y'all are enjoying the summer. It's crazy that my instincts every summer are to go to the pool, eat ice cream, and play tennis. Someone should remind me that i'm not 13 anymore.So i wanted to write and announce a really cool opportunity I've been given to go play some shows with the band O.A.R. this September! The first show is on September 15th in Nashville, at the Ryman Auditorium! Ever since i've been in Nashville, I've wanted to play the Ryman, so as you could imagine, I'm stoked. We're playing a total of 8 shows together, and I'll be back out with the band, which i'm way ready for as well!
Another thing that is rad is that it is going to fit in perfect with the release date for my new album, 'Under Summer Sun' which will now be released on Tuesday, September 16th! Why are new releases always on Tuesday? Note to self...ask the record label why new releases are always on Tuesday...
We thought September 16th would be a better time to put the album out, so I hope you don't mind waiting a few more weeks. It will be worth the wait. I promise. September 16th it is. Tuesday. The second one in September, actually.
Ok, that's all i got. I'm gonna go for a run around the block. Literally.
