MeeK is a french pop songwriter. He's a self taught guitarist, pianist, arranger and producer. He sings in both french and english. His music is very melodic and his tunes are often conceived around multi-layered vocal harmonies. His lyrics tend to be somewhat surreal, with humour, a little pinch of verbal violence sometimes, some trippy distorted imagery and words seldom used in pop lyrics... The Meek Sound is a genuine blend of acoustic instruments, sophisticated vocal harmonies and this rather high-pitched, delicate and almost childlike voice of his.
His debut album called "PSYCHOTIQUE" was released to a warm reception in the french indie pop world in 2002. All the instruments and voices on the album were performed by MeeK alone. A japanese record label called Minf Records released the album in a deluxe digipack edition with a booklet including the lyrics translated in japanese. In 2003, this japanese label released "SLEEPING WITH BIG BEN" on the japanese market only, an album comprised of 14 Beatles songs covered by MeeK.
The second album "MARGARET ET SES BIJOUX" was released to high anticipations in 2004 and sold in larger quantities than the first one. The final track on the album is a 7 minute 37 second epic called "Les Vestiges du Caire", featuring swirling vocal harmonies, a flamenco section, speaking voices, a Tibetan monks choir and sounds from the 9/11 attacks... The album got great reviews in the press and on the Internet.
After a 2-year hiatus, MeeK is back at last and currently recording his next album due sometime in the next few months. Over the years, he has become a bit of a "cult artist", mainly due to the fact that he rarely performs live. Nevertheless, he has an ever growing fan base in France and in the rest of the world too.
