"Warning: this is noise, but don't avoid it. Take punk, jazz, industrial, and ambient to their philosophical nth extremes and this is what you get. Nevermind the message, though, this is about pure sound, nothing but total sensation. Imagine for a moment that the sounds you hear are not annoying (seriously, these sounds are merely intense-- "annoying" is not an objective term). Listen carefully for the changing rhythms, the shifting textures, feel your ears experiencing a full range of sound. Merzbow was by far the best live show I ever saw because I have never been to another show where the major part of the experience was the sense of touch. I recommend listening intently at near-full volume, but not full volume because it will probably blow your speakers. While you're at it, check out the rest of the remix album that this comes from (Scumtron) which features, among others, remixes by Panasonic (now Pansonic-- tekno/noise hybridisers who opened for that Merzbow show I saw), Autechre (!) and Jim O'Rourke who does a sort of John Cage reinterpretation fo Merzbow. Got to hear it. Seriously, though, if you haven't experienced, open your mind up and try."
