Born in Chester, raised in Cambridge, England, Michelle now resides in Hollywood, California. She began studying piano and composing original music at the age of nine, and hasn't stopped since. She has received awards from the Royal Academy of Music for piano and violin and the Bishops Award for Voice. Michelle is an active participant in the singer/songwriter community of Southern California, and has performed at clubs as diverse as the Whiskey A Go Go, the Hotel Cafe, Genghis Cohen, the Joint and the Temple Bar, to name a few. Her songs have garnered attention in both film and television over the past few years. Michelle’s music has been heard on every major TV network in such shows as Alias, Grey’s Anatomy, Las Vegas, Smallville, Ghost Whisperer and MTV’s The Hills to name a few. In addition, “One Tree Hill” has featured eight of Michelle’s songs, including “We Are Man and Wife” performed live by Michelle herself during the season finale’s wedding scene. Recently, Michelle has been featured on the soundtrack for two major motion pictures, “Bully” on “Sherrybaby”, starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and “I’m There Too” on the “Peaceful Warrior” soundtrack, starring Nick Nolte. This winter a song Michelle wrote called “Mind Wide Open” is featured in the Disney movie “Bridge to Terabithia.” “Fallen Down”, Featherstone’s last album, debuted on iTunes at #1 on the folk charts, and #53 overall. The song “We Are Man and Wife” maintained a position on the top 10 folk chart for over 3 weeks. Her new album "Blue Bike" is available on www.buyswag.com and will be on itunes around the middle of march 2009. Several songs from the new album including "10 stories down", "You're not alone" and "careful" have been on MTV's "The City" and "The Hills" and NBC season finale of 'Knightrider' will feature "sure feels good to be alive." Persistently writing, and recording, Featherstone, continues to touch listeners with her poetic lyrics and soothing voice. The evolution of her music is a reflection on her perspectives of life; the type of honesty that a true singer/songwriter possesses.
