Mickey Finn is: Damian Pearce, (Vox, Gtrs) Brett Hammond, (Gtrs) Paul Dutton, (Drums) Martin Ewens, (Bass) ‘Relentless riffing, insistent, hypnotic, sexy shrewd music, this band has sixties heritage,’ is how Rock writer David Silver describes Mickey Finn after catching one of their recent electrifying performances at Mercury Lounge in NYC. The band was formed after singer/songwriter Damian Pearce and Brett Hammond met in the hallowed corridors of The Chelsea Hotel in NYC. They met again later at an acoustic show Brett was playing where Damian handed a CD of material he had been working on. The stage was set for Brett to step in as producer/writer. It soon became instantly apparent their collaborative spirit was working so they decided to experiment with other band members and elaborate on their sound. Martin Ewens was drafted who Brett had worked and toured with in the band ‘Bigmouth’ (Wild Pitch Records). They eventually found Paul Dutton their drummer after their first drummer Jeremy McCarter chose to follow a career in filmmaking. The mold was set and now they are constantly working on their live show, winning audiences and quickly developing a fan base. The band is currently working on pre-production for their debut record that they will produce and record in Brooklyn, NY in Late 2006 for an early 2007 release. Mickey Finn have also just released their first music video ‘Baby Doll’. The video was shot and directed by Chris Cassidy, who is the man behind the camera for other Brooklyn rockers ‘Vic Thrill’ and ‘The Knockout Drops’ and ‘The Bogmen’. The video was edited by Gary Knight at Final Cut that was the company behind such classic cuts as ‘Windowlicker’ and ‘Come To Daddy' by Aphex Twin and whose credits include Madonna, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and BjÖrk. Mickey Finn were recently voted in the UK’s music magazine ‘Beatzine’ as one of their readers top 10 bands of 2006, nestled amongst other rockers The Kaiser Chiefs, Oasis, Babyshambles and more. Michael Daks whose photography has encompassed many famous subjects such as Princess Diana, Sean John campaigns and Rolling Stone recently pulled the band in front of his lens after being wowed at a loft show they played in Tribeca, NYC.
