MOCKY MEETS GZA FROM THE WU-TANG CLAN ON NEW SINGLE !
Mocky is at it again: this time with one of the world's greatest living rappers - GZA, no less, from the mighty Wu-Tang Clan - in tow.
By way of making the heaven-sent jazz-pop melodies of 'Bird Of A Feather' even more infectious, Mocky calls upon Mr "Liquid Swords" to add a signature burst of gruff street philosophy which, while keeping to the song's ornithological theme - "They say the early bird gets the worm/ 'cos it never has to fight for the crumbs and then take flight and turn" - marks a slight return to Mocky's musical past, as well as placing GZA in a new musical context ...The digital single package comes with two further mixes of the same track: a slightly shorter radio edit, and the 'Rollerskating Jam', which finds Mocky in J. Dilla/Madlib mode, looping and chopping the original into a low-slung, tweaked-out groove for the head-nodding b-boy in us all. Buy at Itunes here and Amazon here .

WATCH THE TRAILER FOR "THE MOCKUMENTARY PART II"!
Mocky is feverishly working on another installment of his hilarious"Mockumentary" series ! This time round Pheline Roggan performs a series of hypnosis tests on Mocky, and he joins "Riverdance"?!! Watch the trailer for Part II here.
And if you missed it watch the classic Part I here. It just got awarded the "Best EPK" Grammy by Pitchfork: "The "Mockumentary" for Mocky's new album, Saskamodie, portrays the musician as a kind of musical Zelig, turning up in archival footage of 1950s Egyptian jazz, a 1979 mariachi concert, Japanese koto drumming, even participating in a three-way drum battle with Art Blakey and Elvin Jones. Narrated by a graybeard music professor and featuring cameos from collaborators like Feist, Jamie Lidell, and Gonzales, it's a clever conceit brilliantly executed, and probably deserving of some sort of prize, if there's anything like a Grammy for best online EPK." (Pitchfork)

CATCH FREE MP3 OF MOCKY'S PRODUCTION OF R&B MEGA CLASSIC!
Mocky lends his trademark acoustic touch and (re)produces an R & B mega classic "Crazy in Love" for Canadian/Paris transplant Melissa Laveaux. What should have been a risky venture actually turns out to be a great idea! Amazon US review :... "no exaggeration.. the best new song I've heard in months". Download this bonus track here.

WHAT THE PRESS IS SAYING ABOUT SASKAMODIE!
"An exceptionally musical album - there's no other word for it - that could fail to seduce only the hardest of hearing, or the hardest of hearts"
    (Pitchfork, 8.0 review)
"An amazing record...a big hit for me"
    (Gilles Peterson)
"Saskamodie is languorous and breathily swoonsome. It's full of the kind of jazzy music that doesn't indulge in pesky soloing. If Saskamodie was a film, it would undoubtedly be The Science of Sleep by Michel Gondry. Please take that as a wholehearted endorsement"
    (BBC)
"A revelatory gem of post-war sensibility...an evocative unit"
    (Plan B

    ABOUT MOCKY'S NEW ALBUM "SASKAMODIE"!
Having won a lawsuit against a Austrian supermarket that used his song without permission (they set it to a talking pig selling bio products) Mocky took a risk and spent the winnings on block-booking Ferber Studios (a classic Parisian recording space previously used by Nina Simone and Serge Gainsbourg among others) for two weeks, and enlisting co-producer Renaud Letang in order to record a totally acoustic album. Unlike anything he has ever released before, the resulting album "Saskamodie" - his first since signing to Crammed Discs - sees Mocky moving away from the electronic music scene and returning to his jazz and acoustic roots. Out as download and CD March 23rd around the globe (and on CD April 7th in the UK and US).

    WATCH "THE MOCKUMENTARY"!
"The Mockumentary" seeks to illuminate the conspiracy theories surrounding the musical identity of Mocky. Featuring interviews and appearances by some of the musicians who know him best, Gonzales, Jamie Lidell, Feist , Peaches, Taylor Savvy, Kevin Blechdom and hosted by the musicologist Dr. Thomas Strauss, " The Mockumentary " is a HILARIOUS "must-see" that is getting people very excited about Mocky´s upcoming new album "Saskamodie" on Crammed Discs. WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT SASKAMODIE!
"A record Mocky really needed to make. In these dark times, this album is like a night light. (He) has turned to haunting us with melodies that will quickly become your companions and will doubtless wander in step with you as you go about your days. Mocky lives in his own country of sound. It's a little place called Saskamodie."
    JAMIE LIDELL
"The bears and foxes and crows in Aesop's Fables tell us stories about people. Mocky's doing something with wind and wood and hands that does the same thing.... acoustic instruments breaking music back down to the storytelling elements. His voice is a little bell, the narrator to a fable that makes the childlike, long forgotten gong in your chest wake right back up."
    FEIST
"Jazz" is a naughty word nowadays, it evokes musicians who indulge themselves in a virtuosity contest. Fortunately, Saskamodie isn't a jazz album. It's more like an imaginary soundtrack. Mocky shows us what this naughty word should mean, in a parallel and mystical universe.
    GONZALES (from Magic Magazine, France)

  • Mocky announces new album and previews new song

Mocky will release his new album "Saskamodie" on Crammed Discs on March 23rd 2009. The album was co-produced by Renaud Letang in Paris´ famed Ferber Studios (Nina Simone Serge Gainsbourg and others have recorded there). This gives the album a unique quality that blends a classic feel with a modern sound.
Mocky signed the album with the legendary Crammed Discs from Belgium (Bebel Gilberto, Kinono Number 1, Balkan Beatbox ).
On "Saskamodie" Mocky is listed as playing drums, bass, rhodes, piano, guitar, percussion, bells, recorder, vocals, whistle, organ and toys as well as writing string arrangements. Taylor Savvy, Gonzales, Jamie Lidell & Feist contribute additional instrumental and backing vocal performances that make this record sound more like a live performance than a studio creation.
As first song from the album, Mocky previews the album's opening song "Music To My Ears".
