NorCal rockers Monsters are not Myths are out to prove that there really was something snarling underneath your bed as a kid. The band formed in Santa Cruz, California in 2004. Guitarist Nick Giordano met singer/keyboardist Evan Hamilton via craigslist, stole their band name from a seven-year-old boy, and began creating their unique brand of rock.
Sometimes described as "Nirvana with piano, inspired by Dylan", Monsters are not Myths defies true definition by melding their rock and alternative roots with folk and blues.
Monsters are not Myths have established themselves in the California rock scene with two CD’s: the acoustic EP Portable Luminaire (2004), and the full-length Vague Smiles (2005), for which they won Silver and Gold awards respectively in the Santa Cruz Metros Readers Poll. Finalists in Your Music Magazine's 2005 Battle of the Bands, MANM has also been featured on KZSC 88.1fm, 103.9fm, and on 5 compilations. They were even mentioned in Vegetarian Times, but are still waiting for a call from Cat Fancy Magazine.
This band's unorthodox songwriting, powerful melodies and sparse instrumentation combine to create an addictive visceral energy. Committed to of rocking each and every person in the world until they roll, Monsters are not Myths ignites the audience with a energetic and unforgettable show.
