With the recent release of Motorplant's new CD, 'Inside the Walnut,' the band promises to be one of the hottest new groups to emerge from the Northeast in years. In the first two weeks of promotion alone, 'Inside the Walnut' was added to more than 220 college radio playlists nationwide - a virtually unprecedented accomplishment for an up-and-coming band. Infusing elements of pop, funk, hard rock and a touch of classic rock, Motorplant presents a unique sound that defies categorization, but can best be described as modern rock. With Steve Blanchard on lead vocals and guitar, Eric Eaves on bass and backing vocals, Andy Hanscom on drums and Kevin Trybulski on lead guitar and backing vocals, Motorplant puts on an intense, hard-hitting performance that can't be ignored. Since its inception in 1993, Motorplant has rocked venues from Canada to Philadephia with its cutting-edge music, performing more than 800 shows in the past five years. Ranging in age from 23 to 26, the band's members hail from New Hampshire's hip Upper Valley region, home of Dartmouth College. It was here that the four band members hooked up after seeing each other perform in separate groups at a new-band showcase. Recognizing their complementary talents, the four formed the group 'Motorplant.' The name highlights their environmentally conscious roots.
