  • Happy Xmas From Oasisinet!

As we get closer and closer to Christmas we thought it would be nice to give you something a bit special to watch.

You may remember back in April we showed you a sneak preview of Noel performing 'Waiting For The Rapture' acoustically. It was filmed by photographer Josh Cheuse in an unusual location backstage at Oasis' Madison Square Garden gig in December 2008.

Up until now, the full version was only available via Bono's (Red)Wire digital magazine but you can now view the complete performance on the front page.

Happy Christmas from us all here at Oasisinet!

  • We Can See It - Neu! News

"My current new favourite German band of all time. Proper tour bus music. Spiritual!!"

That was how Noel described the band Neu! this time last year.

Oasis are big fans of Neu! and you can hear their influence on songs such as 'Falling Down' which Noel described as "3 chords, 1 note - Krautpop!!"

So it was nice to read today on The Quietus that Michael Rother - legendary guitarist and founding member of Neu! - praised the Oasis track 'Can Y'See It Now? (I Can See It Now!!)' which was featured on the Neu!-influenced compilation 'Brand Neu!' earlier this year.

"I very much enjoyed listening to that compilation. To be honest, I also quite like the Oasis track. I mention that because I read in some reviews that they got a bit of a beating. It was of course surprising to read that Noel Gallagher expressed his admiration for Neu! and that he convinced his brother to adopt some of the ideas. When I heard that Oasis single 'The Shock Of The Lightning', I immediately understood the idea behind that, the fast-forward movement, the strong surge in combination with a Beatles-esque sound. To me that's an interesting combination, Neu! crossed with Beatles ideas."

The quote comes from an article due to be published tomorrow at The Quietus which we're sure will be worth a read.

If you're unfamiliar with Neu!'s music then you should definitely check them out. Noel's particular favourite is 'Hallogallo' off their debut album, but you can't really go wrong with any of their albums.

For those of you in the UK who wish to delve a little deeper into the world of Krautrock, BBC4 will be showing a documentary about it this coming Sunday.

  • From The Archives - "Can I Have More Hoover In Me Monitors!"

Every now and then we here at Oasisinet have a tidy up in the office and try and find our desks again. It's at times like this that we often stumble upon some really cool stuff that we think you'll enjoy seeing too. When we find something good we'll put it up at the Oasis YouTube page.

This week, we found the EPK* for the album 'Heathen Chemistry'. As always, the guys were on really good form and it makes for fun viewing - who knew that Henry the Hoover nearly made it on to the album!?

Keep checking back to Oasisinet for more fun things from the archives...

  • 'Dig Out Your Soul In The Street' Wins UK Music Video Award

We're very pleased to announce that last night the film 'Dig Out Your Soul In The Streets' won the The Innovation Award at this year's UK Music Video Awards. The award recognises a "piece of work that extends the definition of the medium of music video, and the visual representation and promotion of music generally, through the most innovative and creative use of technology."

The film was shot by directors The Malloys while Oasis were in New York in September 2008. It was inspired by a competition  Big Brother Recordings ran at the time for fans of the band to record versions of four of the (at the time) unreleased tracks off the 'Dig Out Your Soul' album. The Malloys extended this idea to a group of street musicians in New York. 'Dig Out Your Soul In The Streets' documents the musicians learning the songs with Oasis then going out and performing them.

You can watch the award-winning film HERE!

'Falling Down' also picked up 'Best Editing In A Video' at the evening's awards.

  • The Importance Of Being Idle - Best Video Of The Decade?

So, as the end of the decade draws ever-nearer (so soon!) those 'Best Of...' polls have begun and we're happy to hear that the excellent video for 'The Importance Of Being Idle' is up for 'Best Video Of The Decade' at BT Vision.
