  • Family Resource Center : Friend and Fundraising Event : Big Picture : October 22, 2008

When Paula Matthysse asked about playing music for the Family Resource Center's Friend and Fundraising Event this year at the Big Picture at Redmond Town Center, I happily agreed to share my music with such a giving group of people who care deeply about families in our community.

    Family Resource Center

Once again, the people were very appreciative, warm, and I had wonderful conversations with the friends and members of the Family Resource Center.

I also received e-mail from the Family Resource Center's Executive Director Pam Mauk:

"Paul - I wanted to thank you again for your participation in our friend and fundraising event this week: Strengthening Families, Building Community. We had a very successful event at Big Picture which really helped us grow our circle of support. The event raised (dollar amount respectfully removed), with twenty-five gifts coming from new donors (an important, highly coveted class of contributor).

In addition, new volunteers were recruited. One couple will visit to find out where to plug in, one person has wine contacts and can help with that need in the future, and one person said she'd help with next year's film.

Thanks very much for your support. We look forward to having your involvement again.

(...We're big fans of Paul Goade here.)"

    I love these people!

    With love and music,

  • Columbia Tower Club Links Event

We were definitely "high" above Seattle last night!  The view from the 76th floor at the Columbia Tower Club (7600 Columbia Tower Club, 701 Fifth Ave, Seattle, WA 98104) is amazing!  Playing music from the tallest building in Seattle was incredible.

    Clarence Cal

The Links organization, Incorporated founded in 1946, is one of the oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.

    Clarence Cal

Clarence Cal and I had the honor of playing music for the wonderful, beautiful, successful women of this world class Links organization (including Connie Rice, wife of former Mayor Norm Rice (Seattle's 49th Mayor).  So many people expressed their appreciation for the music and Clarence Cal and I had a blast playing in the incredible backdrop of the highest point in downtown Seattle.

It was a very hot, summer day in Seattle, and the sunset was amazing from that point of view.  Did I mention that the view was incredible?

  • Happy Birthday Iain!

I had a blast at Iain's Birthday Party.

Great guy.  Great people.  Great fun.  Wonderful music!  :)

A lot of people I've known for a few years didn't know I was a musician...until they saw me playing the piano last night.  It's always a pleasure surprising people and it feels terrific to hear their kind words.

The hard wood floors in their comfortable house was fantastic for piano music.  I brought my band in my iPod, I mean Zune, too, so I was able to liven it up a bit once and a while.  I had a lot of little people trying to help me play the piano too.  That's always, uh, fun!...but hopefully inspiring.

  • Family Services. Changing Lives. Every Day.

    Family Services Logo

Clarence Cal and I are very fortunate to be connected with such wonderful organizations such as Family Services in Seattle, Washington.  Simply put:  Family Services builds emotionally healthy, self-sufficient families, and a non-violent community in which they can thrive.

So when Vickielee, Family Services's Special Event Manager, asked if we would play music for their event again this year, we, of course happily agreed.

    The View

The view at the Wagner home reminded me of The Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Washington, but the spacious backyard landscape overlooked the South end of Lake Washington, near Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park.  The sun was thankfully shining last night, and Clarence Cal and I played our smooth, soulful music in this gorgeous setting. It was awesome!

The people we spoke with from Family Services are incredible.  The current Board Chair, Brian Buckley, gave a pleasant, succinct speech as he promised, and everyone we "wined and dined" with was very kind, interesting, and passionate about the work they are doing to improve lives.

It was a pleasure for us to be able to give and share our music with such giving people in our community.

...and apparently we played so beautifully, all of the animals came out to listen.  Check out the little bunny in this picture.  :)

    Thank you Family Services!

  • Clarence Cal with Peter Jamero Project at Vino Bella

I had the honor of sitting in with the fine Jazz musicians of the Peter Jamero Project for a song (Johnny Gill's original, but more like Gerald Albright's incredible version of "My, My, My") last night at Vino Bella in Issaquah, Washington.

Peter Jamero was awesome on keys, Matthew Vining was slamming on the drums, and Lonnie Welsh was pumping the bass.  To sweeten and command the sound, my good friend and saxophonist extraordinaire, Clarence Cal, tore the roof off of the place with his soulful, melodic playing.

I met a lot of wonderful, appreciative people at Vino Bella and had a very relaxing, peaceful summer night in the very comfortable, chic venue.  Thank you Claude, for being so welcoming, inviting, and introducing me to people.  Thank you J, for the great conversation and sharing your wine!

    Vino Bella!

  • paulgoade.com!

paulgoade.com now shows all of my blog postings!

Besides adding new music lately, I've also been busy working on paulgoade.com.

I know this has very little to do with music, but it's exciting for me to know that I only need to post blogs in one place.  For all of you tech-heads...technically I blog at iLike.com (tm), use the "Post to MySpace feature (via iLike.com), and then paulgoade.com uses a RSS control for ASP.Net (the RSS Toolkit from http://www.asp.net) to show the MySpace posts, live, and in living color.

I've also added new music controls from imeem and snocap so that you can hear more music and buy it too!  Go to http://www.paulgoade.com/Music/ and check it out!

And if you are an obsessed fan, you'll love my most frequent updates provided by Twitter (most updates are via BrightKite.com).  See what I'm up to at http://www.paulgoade.com/News/.

And as always, paulgoade.com looks fabulous on your shiny new iPhones, so bookmark and add paulgoade.com to your home screen today!

  • Sweat!

I released an updated version of "Sweat" today.  I released this in 2007 to all GarageBand.com members, received reviews and feedback from people, and made changes based on the kinds words and suggestions of the GarageBand.com community.

Thank you for all of your feedback, and enjoy the music!

    Thank you!

  • Jazz & Jambalaya

Clarence Cal and I had the honor of performing for First Place School supporters at a private event in Kirkland, Washington on May 3, 2008.

The "Jazz & Jambalaya" event was an auction item from one of First Place School's auctions. The view from the Kirkland home was beautiful and we were able to spend some time talking to the wonderful people who help our communities in so many ways.

Clarence Cal and I also had the privilege of sharing the stage with a couple of Seattle's finest entertainers: Butch Harrison and Josephine "Josie" Howell. They were fabulous! Butch is a multi-talented pianist, trumpet player, and vocalist. Josie has a powerful, sensual, sweet, soulful voice, and she is very entertaining to watch.

Thank you again, Dr. Doreen Cato (Executive Director of First Place School, among other organizations she is involved with which help our communities), for arranging this fantastic event.

Also, a special thank you to Butch, for showing me a few new tricks on my Korg Triton ProX!

See a couple of pictures from the event in the Pictures section of paulgoade.com.

  • Wine & Chocolate!

The 5th floor at 2125 1st Ave in Seattle, Washington has an incredible view of Elliott Bay and with a lot of wind, but a lot of sunshine, it made a great setting for the Rotary Club of Seattle's Port Wine and Theo Chocolate event last night.

Clarence Cal and I played some hot, Smooth Jazz & R&B last night in a beautiful setting with some wonderful, generous people.

I managed to capture a few pictures before the event, now in my 2008 Pictures library.

Thank you again Adrienne Jeffrey for arranging the event and to Virginia for the outstanding venue!

And thank you again, Rotary Club of Seattle, for the wonderful wine and chocolate!
