Drew Williams and Adam Schutz began playing songs together in the summer of 2005. Then Colin Matsumoto said, "hey, I want to be a part of that." Then the three stumbled across this choir boy named Daniel Branaghan to be their vocalist. One day we found Mark Pasternack who, as it turns out, had been secretly worshipping our music ever since our debut on the Ed Sullivan Show. Actually, we just asked him to join. He didn't even really want to. Then one night, Drew was playing poker with a certain Tommy Williams and he found a boy named Joel Arter who played the drums. Being utterly disappointed with our shitty recordings, Joel reluctantly joined. The original six (Drew, Adam, Colin, Daniel, Mark and Joel) played minor gigs together from the winter of 2006 until the winter or 2007; their first show was March 25th at the good old Scarlet & Grey Cafe. One day in early 2007, Daniel went to buy a ping-pong table; naturally this was the beginning of the end of his commitment to the band. After some minor rearranging (and crybaby Adam quitting the band for 6 days), Eric Irvin entered the circle of PayDirt. Since Eric's joining, they have played gigs at The Basement, NBC Coffeehouse, and Newport. PayDirt began recording their first 9-track album, "Mr. Sunshine," on September 23rd, 2007 with Bobby Leonard at Paper Tiger Studios. They then looked to schoolmate Kyle Hollar for additional studio time. Mr. Sunshine will be ready for sale (hopefully) by January 30th, only a short 19 weeks after beginning the process. This is the updated history of the friendly neighborhood band called PayDirt.
