Playground elevates itself out of the Paris underground rock and electro-rock scene in 2004 with its first album "What’s Your Game", defining the start of the actual French electro-rock sensation with their reference single 1994. Originally a rock n' roll band influenced by the Rolling Stones, INXS, T-Rex, or The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Playground mixes 80s influences with the top of the hip electro, house, and disco style productions. Signing with central Paris electronic label Catalogue Records in 2003, the band opens the way to a whole new scene of rock influenced acts signing with the electronic labels (Hush Puppies, In The Club, etc.) The first album becomes a reference on the French indie rock and electro-rock markets, fueled with controversial stories concerning the band's all-out attitude. French press promptly tags Playground's single 1994 as the French "Seven Nation Army" (Rock Mag), while national daily "Liberation" calls them a "Bunch of talented loud wankers!" In 2005, Playground looses half its original band, as the drummer and the bass player leave to tour with a major signed French pop act. The band is left for dead, but surprises the industry by heading into an important national tour (The Inrockuptibles Magazine 2005 tour) with MTV Awards winner singer Yann Destal from French touch band Modjo on drums. Using the situation to their advantage, they program the bass lines and set up the drums with electronic hardware. The tour is a success. It will lead them to play the CMJ Festival in New York City and to be sponsored by Sonicbids at Midem 2005 in Cannes. The Catalogue Records adventure comes to an end in 2006 as the label shuts down. Playground stays unsigned for a full year, drawing the outlines of the follow up album "Nightology". Meanwhile, Playground’s lead singer Firouz Farman gets involved in the feverish Parisian electro scene, multiplying electro-rock DJ sets in various downtown clubs (Black Calavados, Neo Club, Truskel Club) under the "Playground Soundsystem" name. The band shares the headline with Justice at the Eastpack Flesheaters event (Cabaret Club). In 2007, Firouz Farman moves to London and creates StarLab Rex Records, signing Playground to his home label. Basing offices in Paris and working with UK, US and Italian remixers, StarLab Rex releases Playground's first delivery since 2004, the "Livin' On a Weak End Remix EP" in January 2008. The label has been promoting the release throughout Europe since (Playground Live at the Copenhagen NRJ Music Awards party, Playground Soundsystem sets at the Stockholm Fashion Week, London, Paris, Ibiza.) Playground's next single, produced by Daft Punk's production team is due for September 2008. The album, "Nightology" envisioned for October 2008.
