NOW ON iTUNES AND AMAZON!! Just a couple of guys (and a few great lyricists that choose to work with us) that really love writing music. Please visit www.pongamoosic.com Gerry Cohen- keyboards, bass, guitar Steve Petitt- guitars, drums, bass, keyboards
Gerry started in the Los Angeles entertainment industry thirty years ago as a script reader for Aaron Spelling after a brief and too-exciting career delivering stuff for his Dads’ office in New York City. During the late ‘70’s and first half of the ‘80’s, Gerry worked constantly in the world of music television. On everything from American Bandstand to ABC’s live-late-night classic “Fridays” to the annual American Music Awards, he was able to work with many of the major music acts of the era including The Clash, Madonna, King Crimson, the Cars, the Jam, the Pretenders, Simply Red, Pat Benatar, Devo and some real fun ones like Graham Parker, Kiss, the Plasmatics, the Boomtown Rats, Culture Club, Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, the Stray Cats, Heart, Jefferson Starship, Eddie Money, Kool and the Gang and lots more (and a ton of Country acts, too). Gerry is also the director of over twenty comedy pilots and more than 400 episodes of network television comedy and has been playing in bands and writing and recording music since he was 15, which is, uh… quite a while ago now (and yesterday all at the same time). Thanks for listening to PongaMoosic!
Steve’s love of music began at the age of seven…in a small church near Ypsilanti Michigan. Holding a guitar that was clearly too big for him, he fingered a few chords his Dad had showed him while he accompanied his parents as they sang. He was instantly hooked. He formed his first real band at the age of 11 and has been performing and writing music ever since. He moved to Los Angeles in the fall of 1990 and became a sought-after guitarist who has since recorded and performed with numerous groups and artists. Steve met Gerry Cohen in late 2004 at a neighborhood jam session and they began writing music together almost immediately. They officially joined forces in July of 2005 with the formation of `Pongamoosic’. Steve has also been a longtime part of the Walt Disney Imagineering Ride Mechanical Engineering Group, teaming up on such huge projects as Disney’s California Adventure, Hong Kong Disneyland and various attractions at Disneyland. Through all the highs and lows of his life, music has been a constant companion to Steve, a real part of who he is.
