Multi award-winning New York City songwriter Rachael Sage has penned quirky, melodic pop songs since she was old enough to reach the piano keys. Over the course of her career she has steadily built a loyal grassroots fan base with a rigorous international tour schedule (over 150 dates a year throughout North America, Europe and Asia) that has seen her sharing stages with Natasha Bedingfield, Laura Veirs, Kimya Dawson, Eric Burdon, Sheryl Crow, Ani DiFranco, and Sarah McLachlan among many others. Her performances combine top-notch musicianship with engaging, often hilarious between-song banter. Leaving aside set lists in favor of a more spontaneous approach, every show is unique, leading The Washington Post to declare, "Rachael Sage has an inimitable personal style, a balance of flamboyance and femininity... a performance as distinctive as it was entertaining." Sage, a visual artist and former dancer who performed with The New York City Ballet in her teens, also designed the artwork on her latest self-produced disc, CHANDELIER. The album is a musically eclectic affair that radiates what MOJO magazine has called "warm, intelligent... NY indie charm". Recorded by longtime collaborator John Shyloski and mixed by Grammy® Winner Kevin Killen (Elvis Costello, U2), it contains 13 tracks of what Performing Songwriter calls "engaging pop arrangements and gripping melodies." The lineup features the members of her longtime touring outfit The Sequins: Dean Sharp (Moby) on drums, Russ Johson (Elvis Costello) on trumpet, and Dave Eggar (Evanescence) on cello. CHANDELIER was released June 10, 2008 in the U.S. and August 4, 2008 in the U.K. For an updated tour schedule and Rachael's complete discography, visit www.rachaelsage.com.
