Radial Angel has matured into a rock band beyond reckoning. Between their amazing live shows and subsequent recording projects, lies a band in waiting. With several small tours under their belts, two singles having Top 30 charting success on national Christian rock radio and a new album on the horizon, Radial Angel are perched on the cliff of stardom.

The foundation for Radial Angel was laid in 1995 when friends Jared Taber and Daniel Buckmaster decided to form a band. Granted neither played an instrument but over the next few years the childhood friends began to hone their craft. Eventually Taber ended up singing and playing guitar, Daniel was on bass. In 1999 the band began to see a clear direction. Radial Angel was formally chosen as the band name and the previous drummer went in another direction. Shortly thereafter Tommy Perkins was brought in as drummer and guitarist Jeremy Dolezel was the last and final member to be added to the line-up.

The band’s first demo, with producer/engineer Trent Bell (Chainsaw Kittens) at the helm, quickly sold 200 copies. This encouraged the band to get back into the studio to produce a full-length professional release. Radial Angel was blessed with the chance to work with producer/engineer Kevin Lively (Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against The Machine) in the studio for the next album. In August of 2000, Thin King Entertainment released the self-titled debut album.

Down, the first single released received airplay and rave reviews in the Christian rock market. “This song blows away about 70 percent of the stuff that’s out on major record labels,” stated the Progressive Airplay Journal (PAJ), “Down will be the independent release of the year.” Doug Van Pelt from HM Magazine says “…Radial Angel will become ‘radio angels’ that everyone will hear.” And Mike Rimmer from Cross Rhythms Magazine & Radio (UK) states “Radial Angel are totally brilliant.”

In late April 2001 Thin King Entertainment wrapped production of the bands first full-length video for their hit single Down. The video made it’s world premiere on TVU, a new 24 hour Christian video network currently being carried on the SkyAngel satellite system and viewable on the web at www.tvulive.com. The video is also being shown on several other specialty video programs around the world.

As most bands do, Radial Angel has recently gone through a member change. Daniel Buckmaster, the original Radial Angel bass guitarist, decided to follow a calling into the full time youth ministry and continue his education at the University of Oklahoma. Eddie Jones, friend and part time fill-in bass player, accepted the role of full time bass player at the end of October 2001.

The band is currently finishing pre-production of their new studio project tentatively titled One More Last Time, due out by early summer of 2002. The new material has been described by some as “rock meeting the dark under brooding of our everyday lives, only to introduce us to what eventually becomes our one saving grace.” The year 2001 has brought about great change for the band; success, member change and simply maturing as a whole. It is apparent in their new material that Radial Angel are beginning to feel more at home in the skin they’re in. This album could have the impact that many albums of the past never dreamed of, primarily from the eloquence of singer/songwriter Taber’s lyrics. Penned mainly from personal experiences and past conflicts, Taber’s lyrics lend themselves to thoughts and feelings we’ve all shared at one time or another.

Though considered by some an indie band, Radial Angel has made a mark on Christian rock that most never have the opportunity to do. The bands amazing performances, numerous projects and overall raw talent point to an exciting future.
