Radio Over Moscow is new. There’s not much of a history yet, except to say the debut album ‘Battletech’ was released July 18, 2009. There are two versions - one loud, compressed, shiny and will slot in alongside everything else on your iPod; and another which plays back much quieter, but is mastered more like an old-school record and has more dynamics. You can listen to them both / download tracks on the official website - radioovermoscow.com. If nothing else, ROM sounds like a low-budget mix of Nirvana, New Order, Killers, Smashing Pumpkins, Beatles, Weezer, Human League, Manic Street Preachers, Primal Scream and Blur. ROM is completely independent - if you pay for a track, the only people getting any money are myself and whichever service you buy the music through. If you’re broke like me, you can download the 128k mp3 files for free (from the “loud” version of the album only - the “dynamic” version will cost you at least US$5). For higher quality tracks, right up to FLAC and Apple Lossless, you can name a price, Radiohead-style. Be generous! There’s virtually no middleman. Except the virtual middlemen. Enjoy!
