His voice was strong, thick, and rich, fully of buttery tones. Roberta on the other hand is often said to employ an almost (forgive me for racial stereo typing, I write only what I've heard and read) white sound, and style. Her voice, soft, in comparison to Aretha, Gladys, or Tina she has a much less earth Shattering voice. Her style less gospel enforced than Donny, and she doesn't do the trailing Donny does. But she is very soulful in a different way. They meet on such an amazing level. She is perhaps at her most spiritual on this song. The harmonies, and interplay are inspiring. The lyrics, and piano work are wonderful, one of my favorite songs from this amazing album.
