It was a cold, dark Friday night and the party hats were getting soaked. What with the pouring rain and freezing wind, it was getting difficult to endure being outside, let alone being outside sullenly drinking and mulling over plans. "F**k this, for a game of wet soldiers!" said Mark. "I‘ve had enough of this poverty and unbecoming anonymity. Let’s get into a room, flatter some instruments and take the noise to the masses." And so the beginning of a kernel of an idea of a plan that was to eventually become RUBIE VALE was born. Soon there were more reasons than the promise of a life devoted to the pleasures of the flesh to pursue a life of music. The four Valers quickly realized they had a musical rapport that mimicked yet far surpassed the relationship they enjoyed as mere friends. It wasn’t long before the songs started coming, and after a few years learning the ropes, playing the venues, paying the dues and generally having a strange kind of fun, the band matured to the point where they decided to seek help in capturing their new and definitive style and sound. -oOo- In December 2002 RUBIE VALE crossed the Atlantic guided by New York media gurus Cornerstone Promotions, to record a demo with renowned producer Doug McBride (Smashing Pumpkins, Cheap Trick, Veruca Salt, Maxwell, Filter, Sinead O'Connor INSERT BIG NAME HERE!). The resulting ‘Gentleman Sessions’, as they’ve since come to be known, garnered considerable praise, made radio play-lists on both sides of ‘the pond’ and brought RUBIE VALE to the attention of more than a few labels. The band themselves, however, know they have merely grasped the tip of their own creative iceberg – there is much more to come. -oOo- RUBIE VALE hail from Leixlip near Dublin. Leixlip is an old Viking town on the river Liffey (actually the inland point where the Vikings realised there was no way they were going to conquer the Irish and decided to give up) and it’s also the birthplace of Guinness. This mixture of ‘The Black stuff’ and Viking culture has made RUBIE VALE both the musicians and people that they currently claim to be – pillage and spillage and modest excess. They love to get out and play in Dublin’s vibrant music venues, playing live is the great reward for all bands. There is no greater good than good music and that is the simple mantra we fools live by. Thanks for reading our story.
