Check out Sheva in a small venue while you can". Jayson Baxter from Breakfast Television. Growing up in Bridgetown, Nova Scotia in a musical family, Sheva comes by her talent naturally. A classically trained mezzo-soprano and pianist, Sheva began exploring music at a young age and during her formative years she was able to express herself through musical theatre. While Sheva was attending university she got a gig fronting a house band. It wasn't long before she realized that although she loved performing, she also had a deep desire to sing and write her own music. Over the last few years, ideas were formulated, lyrics written, but it wasn't until last year that it all came together. "Basically I was living life, had a job as a hair stylist, and in a new relationship, but like so many, was frustrated with working 9 to 5 and not doing what I really wanted to do - pursue my musical career. I also realized that with a musical career comes spending time away from those that you love. It was during this time that I wrote "Song for Myself" which deals with these issues. I decided this is going to be my year the year I would concentrate on taking my music to the next level". And that's exactly what she did. Sheva has just finished recording her self-titled debut album, a blend of piano-driven pop, which will be released early 2006. The album was produced by Dale Penner (Holly McNarland, Nickelback, Matthew Good Band), and recorded in Vancouver Toronto, and Halifax. Contributing to the record were a host of talented, respected musicians from all across North America. This includes Boston based Jimmy Landry (guitars/programming), Vancouver based Don Powrie (drums), Bill Buckingham (string arrangements) and Los Angeles based Barry Coffing (strings and keyboard). Through her music, Sheva brings to her audience an element of deep emotion and intensity. She has the ability to capture her audience and draw them in with her captivating melodies and her pure angelic voice. Sheva has the range, power and control that translates both in the studio and in her live performance. Some of her early influences, Sarah McLachlan, and Peter Gabriel are evident in her music.
