Formed three years ago, Dublin-based Sonora are a four piece band with a penchant for guitars and strong melodies. One critic has described their music as "classic melodies, prizing the importance of the self contained song, situated at the point where forward facing rock music meets 60's pop sensibility". The band spent most of 2000 playing in Dublin honing their live set and building up a loyal fanbase. Following a Dublin showcase gig last year with English Mercury Music Prize nominee, Tom McCrae, the band caught the eye of BMG International. The BMG label wasted no time in offering a development deal, in turn leading to a veritable who's who of international A&R in attendance at recent Irish gigs.
