From the unforgiving furnace of Phoenix, Arizona, Time and pressure have been working together to form the Rock and roll Juggernaut that is Secret Life of Painters (SLP).
Fronted by the self proclaimed "maniacal musical masterminds", J. Hofmann, and AC Kiley, this quartet delivers a tasty blend of Post Punk, Psychedelic, Garage and Balls out Rock and Roll. The band are reluctant to call themselves "indie rock", but at this point, there is no major label backing, so the tag sticks.
With some college radio success under thier belt, and a vast wealth of material to draw from, (Hofmann says they have over three hundred songs just laying around) this band has become somewhat of a buzz in many college towns across the country.
It's easy to see why, when you hear the pre release of the new full length album, "Magnets and Energy".
M&E is a solid rock affair with enough heart, guts, and hooks to toss out like scraps to lesser bands. With stand out tracks like "If it Please the Magistrate", and "The Frozen Officials" (the latter is a ten minute opus that never gets boring, and quite literally blew me away) this record is going to cause quite a stir when it is finally released to the masses.
When asked what the future holds for the band, Hofmann replies,"I have no Idea what the future holds, The only thing I know for sure is that being broke really sucks."
