SEPIAMUSIC SIGNS WITH AMERICAN LABEL
The Copenhagen-based Danish/American duo, Sepiamusic, has signed a record deal with Los Angeles record label,Quango Records. The band is set for official release of their new album entitled "Trenches" on Tuesday, December 1st, 2009. The band consists of Erin Chapman and Michael Adler Miltersen.
Sepiamusic's latest release was their debut album in late 2003 entitled "Prototype". After abrief live tour, they began work on new material. The result is their 2nd album "Trenches". While working on the the album, they signed a mangement deal with Los Angeles-based Dave Curtin and Chicago-based Mark Share. After over a year of scouting for the right home, they finally got in touch with Bruno Guez from Quango Records.
Over the last decade, Quango has developed a tastemaker brand with a cult following. Quango’s eclectic repertoire has a living history of breakthrough artists including Kruder and Dorfmeister, Zero 7, Bliss, Cantoma, Bitter:Sweet and Talvin Singh, among others. With over 50 records released through Island Records and Palm Pictures, Quango has championed the emerging electronic sounds from around the globe with a diverse roster of artists.
Bruno Guez, the label's founder and headman, says: "I've had a love affair with Scandinavian music over the last 10 years, releasing Koop and Bliss, among others, in North America. I love Sepiamusic's blend of rock, electronic and classical. Erin's melodies layered with Michael's production seduced me from my first listen of Skin & R.I.D off the new album. I am excited to release their second album "Trenches", as part of the Quango family of artists, and share their music with the North American audience."
Also included on "Trenches" are 3 tracks lifted from the debut album "Prototype". The label heard the previous album while working with the band and couldn't ignore the potiential of some of the songs, wanting to serve them to a new and wider audience. The full release will contain 12 tracks.
This will mark Sepiamusic's first offical American debut.The initial release will be digital followed by a physical release in early 2010.
