Update - October 2009 After a nearly ten year hiatus from Shuteye, the band's single Megaphone has made another appearance on the charts. We've now uploaded 2 more songs from the Stained album and 1 previously unreleased tune 'Too Far Gone'. Enjoy
Shuteye initially started on January 1st, 1999. Previously the band was known as 'Half Past 3'. HP3 members were: Jeremy Foster, Clay Corley, Anthony Sims and Keith Hendrix on drums. The first HP3 show was performed at the last Variety in West Monroe. Following the Variety event, later that night, HP3 shared the stage with Engine #9. HP3s last show at NYR, also included bands, No Purchase Necessary, Engine #9 and Blood Brothaz at a Lodge in West Monroe. After the New Year's Revolution show was performed in West Monroe, LA, the band made some changes and eventually became Shuteye.
Shuteye's peak came when the band traveled to Atlanta, GA to meet with executives from the artist label, Atlantic Records. Which at that time included bands such as Matchbox 20. Nothing ever came from this meeting.
In the summer of 1999, the band played two songs at a day session at Louisiana Summer Camp. These songs included 'Wished We'd All Been Ready' and 'God of Wine' by Third Eye Blind. In the audience would be two young men who went on to form another band a few years later called 'Watershed'. These young men were Aaron Kelly and Derek Peoples.
The band also played at the Friday Night @ the Mall at the 1999 Louisiana Camp Meeting, opening for the All-State Youth Choir. As well as the Friday Night at The Mall at the National Youth Congress in Indianapolis, Indiana. At the NYC event, Shuteye shared the stage with artist 'The Clark Family Experience'.
Shuteye eventually broke up in 2001 when Brandon Tran, Anthony Sims and Jeremy Foster all had to quit the band for various reasons, all within 3 months of one another. Clay Corley and Dave Manning attempted to keep the band going for several months but eventually went on to other ventures.
A 10 year reunion concert was discussed for 2009 but never came to fruition. All the members of the band keep in contact with each other through facebook, phonecalls, emails and see each other from time to time.
