The Sincerity Principle was formed in March 2002 in San Diego by Daniel Harton and Allen Porter. The two met in 1995 in High School and soon after started writing songs and began experimenting with recording. Early 4 and 8-track recordings were made of Daniel playing Guitar, Allen playing bass and singing, and a Drum Machine, all recorded in the bedroom of Daniel's parents house. The two played in various projects until, in February 2001, they joined the band (and are still currently members of) Machaka (http://www.machaka.com/). In the year following they furthered their recording and music interests by recording Machaka, and other bands in San Diego. The Sincerity Principle was created to satisfy another needed outlet for musical expression. The project allows the two to experiment along their own lines. The duo switch off the tasks of playing guitar, bass, drums and vocals, and also do the recording and production themselves.
