Sitting Still were finally formed in the winter of 2002. After waiting for two years for adept musicians to find him, Tim Crabtree (vocals and guitar) finally gave in and went to look for them. At this point he'd already met up with Tom Leonard and Ian Graham (guitars), and played through some song ideas with them, but failure to find a reliable rhythm section ruined any attempt to form a fully functioning band.
It was in the winter of 2002 that Tim got in touch with Andrew Davies (bass) and Jan Minx (drums) and preparations were made to turn some of Tim's song ideas into workable tunes.

Success came quickly - after establishing themselves with a number of gigs at the university of York Sitting Still were rewarded with regular support slots for up-and-coming indie bands. Over 2003 and 2004 Sitting Still played with Clarkesville, The Delays, Thirteen Senses and Keane amongst others.
"Undoubtedly one of York's best and most respected live bands" (Take One)
February 2004 saw the release of the 'Wake' ep which was well received on the local scene and quickly sold-out.
“one of York’s bands-to-keep-an-eye-on.” (The Talk)
Summer 2004 saw a tour of Germany (including a headlining slot at the Rock-Over Kiebitzsee Festival in Emmerich) and a return to the studio. The band took a different approach to the process this time, replacing the heavily layered approach of the Wake sessions with a focus on capturing the energy of the live set.
Along the way fruitful relationships have developed with a number of immensely talented people. All Sitting Still artwork has been produced by multi-media prodigy Colin Marks (www.rain-song.co.uk)
Sitting Still have also collaborated with director Chris Tootell. His innovative (9 screen) video for 'Summer Sun' garnered substantial praise, and has been shown at a number of film festivals worldwide, including the New York International Film Festival. Chris is currently working on a video for 'Pacified'.
