    New Album - Smashes and Trashes - OUT NOW!

    The day is upon us....

    On Monday 2nd November our greatest hits album 'Smashes and Trashes' was unleashed into the world. 

    Its been over 9 years since we released our last album and we want to take this opportunity to thankyou all for being so supportiveand waiting so patiently for our return. 

    We are back together because we love each other and being in Skunk Anansie is what made us individually happy deep in our souls. When we are together we are complete and when we were apart we were floundering in the wilderness like a Catholic priest at a Girl Guide convention.

    So get off your high horse and listen to the new tracks against the old. 
    Listen to the love, listen to the chemistry between us that makes it all worth it, listen to the heartfelt feeling, melody, lyrics and energy the new songs convey against the naivety, adrenaline and freedom of the old.

    There's a reason why they were Smashes, they were real, we meant it, we didn't care about the outside world, we were just a bunch of kids in our dirty little Kings Cross hole with a pot full of passion, ignorantly doing our thing and the people connected and understood it. 

    So see this as a new beginning, this ain't no rehash, we ain't walking down memory lane in a Nirvana T-shirt, bloodshot eyes andheroin dribble whining about how uncool it is that the kids rip us off on this thing called the Internet.
    There is no nostalgia in our cause for we have reclaimed our joy together, rediscovered our joint empathy, rekindled the kick arse music and re-lit the fire in our bellies for music that moves us.

    We are once again complete, ready to trash the hell out of every song we play, ready to share the brutality of our tunes, why?... 
    Because we are Skunk Anansie, and that's what we do.

    5 million album sales, one of the most forthright, iconic, and confrontational female lead singers in modern musical history, a six-year back catalogue to make you quiver, Skunk Anansie are back!

     

    They return with their epic new single ‘Because Of You’, out September 14th, from their forthcoming ‘Greatest Hits’ record, ‘Smashes and Trashes’ out November 2nd.

     

    Following an eight-year hiatus, Skunk Anansie are re-born, revitalised and as confrontational as ever, fully armed with highly charged, brand new tracks, a blistering greatest hits record and a 21-date sold out European tour.

     

    Written and produced by Skunk Anansie – Skin (Lead Vocals), Cass (bass), Ace (Guitar) and Mark Richardson (Drums) ‘Because Of You’ is bursting with visceral energy. Kicking off with a sinister, nape prickling guitar riff, Skin’s intense vocal, which has never sounded better climbs on top, the track then hits you with a powerful wall of sound, showcasing their raw power and guile.

     

    “No one’s really sounded like us since we’ve been away,” says Skin.

    “I think that people are ready for a bit of in-yer-face tuneful rock music again. I see us in competition with every band that’s out there and I think we’re better than we were before. If we didn’t feel like that, it would be sad and pathetic.”

    The ‘Greatest Hits’ record ‘Smashes and Trashes’ is a 15-track career-embracing album. It features classic moments from their first two Top Ten albums ‘Paranoid & Sunburnt’, ‘Stoosh’ and their 1999 album ‘’Post Orgasmic Chill’. From the rejoiceful ‘Weak’ to the anthemic ‘Hedonism (Just Because You Feel Good)’ it’s a timeless record brimming with hits, which is translated into the here and now in the form of their three brand new tracks; ‘Because Of You’, ‘Tear The Place Up’ and ‘Squander’.

     

    In support of their ‘Greatest Hits’ record, Skunk Anansie play a 21-date sold out European tour, which kicks off in Brussels (October 9th) and is brought to a close with a special show at Brixton Academy (November 26th).

    It's the first of three new songs we'll be releasing from our forthcoming Greatest Hits album, due later in the year. 

     

     

    Free Download As a thankyou to you guys for being so loyal over the years we're going to be giving the song away instead of releasing it commercially.  :)  Everyone on the mailing list will have a chance to download it for free.  It's really easy to get...everyone on the list will be sent an Ecard next week, all you have to do is forward it onto 5 other people then you'll be granted access to download the track for free. Anyone you send it to will be invited to do the same. But initially only those on the mailing list will have the chance to get it.

    Skunk Anansie Tour Now On Sale

    SKUNK ANANSIE TOUR DATES NOW ON SALE!
    We are delighted to announce that Skunk Anansie have now confirmed
    their Greatest Hits Tour. 

    (Anyone who signed up to the mailing List will know about this already, if you want to be added to the list go and sign up over at http://www.skunkanansie.net!) 

    Tickets for the first available dates are now  available  exclusively on the
    Skunk Anansie website only www.skunkanansie.net. 


    They will then go on general release from Friday 22nd May at 9am. This gives you 2 whole days to buy them before they go on sale elsewhere.

    But we don't want you to keep the news to yourself! Please feel
    free to tell other Skunk fan's and point them to the website,  It's really important to us that our most dedicated fans get a chance to attend these shows.

    More dates will follow over the coming weeks and the same process
    will repeat (tickets will be on-sale via the site before general
    release, we'll send a mail to anyone on the mailing list 
    every time we announce them).
