  Sofia Talvik’s Christmas Calendar #8

  As you know we're doing a couple of Christmas concerts in December. But as we've been all sold out and you can only catch is in Stockholm, Sweden, I figured I'd show you some songs from the Christmas concerts in today's window. This is from our première night with Meja as guest artist.

  Sofia Talvik’s Christmas Calendar #6

  You saw me cooking with Stiko Per Larsson last week, so I guess it's time for some dessert, or some art ... well it's a gingerbread house.

  I visited my cello player Christian and his family to see how they bake and build their. And the best thing is that you can download the template for Christian's gingerbread house HERE and bake it at home!

  Sofia Talvik’s Christmas Calendar #5

  Have you bought all your Christmas gifts yet?

  Sofia Talvik’s Christmas Calendar #4

  When I released my album Jonestown I released 12 live videos where I play the songs from the album live with different Swedish guest artists. One of them was Christian Kjellvander and I am proud to tell you that he will once again play with me, this time on my Xmas concert "Sofia Talviks Julmys" at Mosebacke this Sunday!

  Known for both his career in the band Loosegoats as well as his many praised solo albums, Christian Kjellvander is probably the most American country-esque singer/songwriter in the whole of Scandinavia. Or as "The Sun" describes his music; "You'd bet your bottom dollat that the man behind it lived in a small American town."

  I hope you liked the first window of my Xmas Calendar. In this second window it's time for me to introduce you to my guest artists for my Christmas Shows. Wonderful Meja is first up!

  Almost 15 years have passed since the birth of her solo carrier, and yet Meja's history is not about what happened " then". It will always be about what Is happening" now". The Mega hits are still spinning around in our minds, our lips are still humming "It´s all about the Dum-dum-du-du-du-dum" and the stories of the Japanese mass euphoria are regarded as literacy. It's nice with fixed stars, the artists we feel are "ours" whom we can feel proud of. But to rely on old ways would be unfair, not only to Meja's variety and creativity, and if we don't look ahead we will miss out on a multifaceted artist with the fingers in more cookie jars than most.

  Première for the Xmas calendar!

  Today it's December 1st and the first window of my Christmas Calendar.

  An Christmas Calendar orAdvent calendar is a special calendar which is used to count or celebrate the days of Advent in anticipation of Christmas. Today, most advent calendars are made for children. In Europe you can find the cardboard ones in stores and usually see a them as a television show for children, starting on the first of December, and ending on Christmas Eve.

  Sofia Talvik's Advent Calendar however, is not made for children but for music lovers. Through December you'll be able to watch 24 episodes where I celebrate Christmas in different ways up till Christmas eve.

  I also have the tradition of giving away a free Christmas single each year and this year I'm releasing the single "Snowy White River" in collaboration with Music Teachers Without Borders and Gehrmans Publishing. Gehrmans Publishing is issuing a sheet music for "Snowy White River" and all proceeds will go to Music Teachers Without Borders, who works through and with music to give a meaningful life for children living in an otherwise tough environment.

  So not only will you be able to learn how to play a Sofia Talvik song, but you'll also do something good for children who need it. Gehrman's publishing will also have a Christmas Calendar, to check it out on www.gehrmans.se where you also can download the sheet music for "Snowy White River".
