I'm a Coloradan-turned-New Yorker.
I moved to NYC in 2004 (in the winter, mind you! It was freezing and I thought I was prepared being from a ski state and all). For any of you thinking of moving to the City, yeah maybe don’t do it in January. It's hard to believe I've been here almost six years. Still loving (and hating, and then again, loving) it.
I'm a wife.
My husband Kevin performs with me.
I'm a daughter.
My mom started teaching me piano when I was five and I started messing around with writing songs in the fourth grade. My first song was called "The Dancing Song." The lyrics had nothing to do with dancing, though. Oh, and sorry mom, I still bang on the keys when I get frustrated!
I'm a dancer.
I started out a dance major in college before switching over to music. It's fascinating to find how composition and choreography often go hand-in-hand with one another: how they deal with rhythm, bound and flow, among other elements. My experiences as a dancer and choreographer have definitely shaped me musically.
I'm a school junkie.
I majored in music, with emphasis on vocal performance at The Colorado College. I continued on with grad work in composition at the Wanda L. Bass School of Music (Oklahoma City University).
Most recently, Steph just finished work on a compilation CD "In the City." Steph will have two featured songs on the compilation album through Redeemer Forum for Singer/Songwriters, produced by Sean McClowry. The project will benefit Hope for New York. A CD RELEASE PARTY is set for December, 14th @ 8pm at Crash Mansion.
