Equally at home on stage and in the recording studio, they are a band whose sound is at once reassuringly familiar and yet undeniably their own. Valuing positive energy, substance and style, there is no such thing as a "typical" Stone Melodies show. In their recordings, The Melodies have worked to balance the spontaneous energy of their live performances with the polished sound which can only be achieved within the confines of a recording studio. Their debut album, Alien Summer, was released in November of 2003, and their first single - "The Night George Harrison Died" - received significant airplay on Ottawa's XFM (101.1). Most recently, the band recorded new material with producer Albert Chambers (Moist, David Usher) of Bin Base Studios in Montreal. The first results of this collaboration,"This I Know" and "Typical" (1st place winner of Canadian Music Week songwritng competition), are representative of the high-energy direction in which Stone Melodies is headed. Currently, the band is preparing a full album release on April 1st, 2006. As well as a mid west tour slatted for March 2006.
