More...I can't believe how fast the fall has flown! At this point though, with all the rain we've had in Tennessee I hoping that translates into a White Christmas!
Got some stuff coming up. A show in Naperville, IL that I did last year and am really looking forward to again this year. FYI, my niece Becky, whom I'll be headlining with, is really heading for the stars. Check out her website at http://divadavis.com/live/. If you're anywhere near Chicago this is a pretty neat combination. We call it Divabilly! Becky will bring some of her friends and I'll bring some of mine for a couple of shows that you just don't see every day.

So honored to be a part of a brand new series starting at a brand new theater, the Don Gibson Theater in Shelby, NC. Can't help but go back to afternoons sitting around the kitchen table with Chet Atkins singing Don Gibson Songs. He was such a huge fan of Don's and really wanted me to know his material, even songs that weren't giant hits. How lucky am I? I think I will have a very special night there and I'm looking forward to it.

What do you think? I'm going to be close to home for the Christmas holiday this year! How great is this? The Loveless has been one of my favorite "back in time" places to retreat to for years. Now I can share this feeling with you. They have built a beatiful barn which is also a music venue behind the restaurant/motel and I get to be the first act to do a Christmas show here. Lots of you know how much I love to play Christmas music. Since I was a kid, my favorite movie was White Christmas. There never was a venue as close to the barn from White Christmas as the Loveless Barn. Even got some of my buddies from the 5678 dance world to "step up" the show and make it even more like the days of yore. If any of you are looking for a Christmas Adventure, it's a top notch Nashville experience.

I always tell everybody that I think of Chet almost every day. There's always somethig that makes me laugh that I think he would laugh at too, or things that make me think of his beautiful music. It never makes me sad though. This was a song we worked out at the kitchen table just thinking about what a beautifully written song it was. Later, when I had the chance to record some Christmas material I remembered that day and thought it would be a wonderful thing to record that song with Chet. He was gracious to say yes.
Ralph said at the time that you couldn't buy it, but of course it's on this record now! Lucky!

Lately I've been doing a lot of shows that are smaller. Trios, duos, even solos. Thank you so much for your warm response, it encourages me. I'm just trying this out, but I thought I would put up some songs just me and my guitar. Hopefully for your enjoyment. Half of what keeps me going is the interaction I have with you all. I'd like to hear if there are other songs you'd to have me to record with my guitar. I have put up the first one, "It's Always New To Me" on my Myspace, Facebook, and iLike page. Let me know if you like this idea. Who knows, maybe I'll do a whole album.
Hope your holidays are happy and less stressful. I think this last year has helped all of us to shine a light on things that are most important to us and hopefully let some of the trappings go.
Joy,
Suzy
