More...The original No Bolan, No T.Rex petition was created to rally enough support to change the name of a band touring as "T-Rex". When the petition had served its purpose, it had 632 signatures, including support from Tony Visconti, BP Fallon, Bill Legend, Andy Ellison, Danielz, and Roy Wood.
The band that toured as "T-Rex" agreed to change their name, rather, revert their name to Mickey Finn's T-Rex. On 2nd July 2008, the band issued a statement "The band have decided [...] to revert to our original name "Mickey Finn's T-Rex". This move, we feel, will honour our founders memory and clear up any confusion as to the bands history."
However, as of 24th August 2008, the band that changed their name to Mickey Finn's T-Rex are STILL touring Germany with the name T-REX.
We've already had a petition to prove that without Marc Bolan, there cannot and should not be a T.Rex... So what can we do to enforce the promises made by this band in promoting themselves HONESTLY?
This band also made no effort to change their music on iTunes, which was selling as "T.Rex" and was the only available versions of songs like 'I Love To Boogie', '20th Century Boy', 'Metal Guru', 'Telegram Sam' in the USA. We had to write to iTunes and change that ourselves!
Here are some of the posters from their current German tour:

Here's one snapped by Fee Warner, "T-Rex Action Group" secretary (who fullheartedly endorses this band!) just a few weeks after the "name change".

Recently, when asked about the situation, the band's manager Barry Newby replied:
"I said on our site that thing would take a while to sort themselves out. just seems to be taking longer than we all hoped. And as far as paul having T-REX on his bass drum is concerned, he earned that right back in 1973/4."
In a recent interview, Paul Fenton (the only desperate connection this band has to the real T.Rex) explained:
"It was a tribute to Marc and Mickey when we kept the band going. We have never made a fortune out of the band but we have gone round and celebrated their music without being a complete tribute band."
This band doesn't even acknowledge being a tribute to T.Rex? On other sites, they've claimed to be a reformation of T.Rex. The only way T.Rex could ever be reformed, is if it (Marc Bolan) was resurrected!
Anyways, what to do with this band? What can we do to solve this problem, and protect Marc Bolan's legacy? The petition didn't work for them.. Our banners didn't work.. An entire website devoted to the issue didn't seem to phase them.. What can be done?
You decide!
You can e-mail this band's manager with your opinion if you want:

If you have media connections, it would be very helpful if you passed this story along. Last time around, the fact that David Bowie signed our petition made the papers and spread like wildfire!
Keep A Little Marc In Your Heart...
And DEFEND him!
