The Norwegian band leader Simon Shack had a father, a sociologist, who spent a life helping out the needy all around the world. The Social Service is named partly as a homage to this great man, but also refers to the playful 'mission for mankind' upheld by the band : the third world is struggling, but surely, the so-called civilized world needs some urgent assistance too! So here comes The Social Service, tadaaah! - delivering soothing sounds and lyrics for the 'rich and needy', the western hostages of a system too phony for comfort. And yes, we DO play all our songs live to good effect, multimedia video and 'circus' show included.
