Theodore Anthony "Ted" Nugent was born December 13, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan. You may also know him as "The Nuge", "Motor City Madman", or "Uncle Ted".
Nugent originally gained fame as a guitarist for the Amboy Dukes, a rock band from the late 60's best known for their hit "Journey to the Center of Your Mind". In the 70's he went solo and had numerous giant hits including "Stranglehold", "Free For All", "Dog Eat Dog", "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" and probably his most popular song, "Cat Scratch Fever".
He's known for his incredible musical talent, his outspokenness in all conversations—especially political ones, his position as a board member of the NRA (National Rifle Association), and his passion for hunting.
He takes an anti-drug & alcohol stance which makes him a great national spokesman for DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), along with being a spokesman for the National Field Archery Association, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
He has written books, appeared in films and on television, released multiple albums (solo as well as with his several bands including Amboy Dukes), and has his own hunting TV show "Spirit of the Wild."
The Nuge's latest solo studio album Love Grenade was released in 2007 by Eagle Rock.
Coming September 29th, The Music Of Ted Nugent is a specially low-priced 3 CD box set that features all of his biggest hits and a booklet with new liner notes and photos, all in an eco-friendly non-plastic package. Great gift idea for fans this holiday season!
