Canadian punk rock pioneers TEENAGE HEAD have confirmed the following Western Canadian tour dates in support of their new critically acclaimed album Teenage Head With Marky Ramone.
Over the past thirty years, TEENAGE HEAD has sold in excess of 200,000 albums in Canada alone. This new album by the platinum selling band was recorded at Hamilton’s Catherine North and Toronto’s Metal Works studios with producer Daniel Rey (Ramones, Misfits, White Zombie) and finds the band joining forces with drummer Marky Ramone, one of the best rock drummers in the world and former timekeeper for THE RAMONES.
To celebrate the release of the album, TEENAGE HEAD (Frankie Venom - vocals, Gord Lewis - guitar, Steve Marshall - bass, Jack Pedler - drums) has confirmed the following dates at the end of May as a follow up to last summer's highly successful Western Canadian tour. Recent TEENAGE HEAD Press Quotes
"It is the best outfit Marky Ramone has played with since the Ramones called it a day and recommended listening for all fans of the 1-2-3-4 style of punk rock… Daniel Rey has managed to capture that live energy and what bursts from the speakers is the heart of the Teenage Head sound: explosive, energy-laden punk anthems. No glossy production tricks here -- just loud, in-your-face three-chord rock and roll." 4.5/5 – PUNKNEWS.ORG, April 29, 2008
"With Ramones (and Misfits, and Doughboys, and Richard Hell) producer Daniel Rey behind the boards, songs like the classic "Let's Shake" sound fresh and immediate, while "Teenage Beer Drinkin' Party" is ready to inspire a whole new wave of underage alcoholism… Frankie Venom's voice sounds as strong now as it did almost 30 years ago, and the rest of the band keep pace with his continued energy." – Sam Sutherland, EXCLAIM!, May 2008
"Even with odds against them, this is a killer slab of greasy rock 'n' roll, still managing to ring out with inspiration and bare some teeth. Most young punk bands could only hope to get this intense." 8.5/10 –Johnson Cummins, MONTREAL MIRROR, April 24, 2008
“While their songs are a little longer than the Ramones' famous buzz-saw blitzkriegs, fans looking for a taste of true 70s punk will not be disappointed.” 4/5 - Jordan Bimm, NOW MAGAZINE (TORONTO), April 24, 2008
"You'd have to march a long way to find a band today that's able to match the intensity of these recordings, simply because most groups don't know how to create fireworks anymore, they just know how to copy them from old acts.” – Bob Mersereau, FREDERICTON TELGRAPH JOURNAL, April 23, 2008
“Talk about a match made in punk heaven. For their first CD in 12 years, Hamilton legends Teenage Head recut 12 of their beer drinkin' classics with theone and only Marky Ramone on drums and Daniel Rey producing. That's pretty cool. What's even cooler: Frankie Venom and co. still sound every bit as raw, rangy and rambunctious as they did 30 years ago. Some kinda fun.” – Darryl Sterdan, WINNIPEG SUN, April 22, 2008
