  There is an essential 3 CD set of Luke Haines stuff which you could find in many Tower Records before they went out of business for only a few dollars. It collects a lot of his Baader Meinhof, Auteurs, and solo stuff -- nothing from BBR on it though. The last Haines album in early 2007 had its moments of greatest -- Leeds United and The Glitter Band song were memorable.

  Sad to say that they disbanded in roughly 2000 after releasing 'How I Learned to Love The Bootboys'. Haines continued working with Black Box Recorder, with John Moore from Jesus and Mary Chain and Sarah Nixey, which had been a side project whilst he was in Auteurs. They released 3 albums, the first 2 of which are not bad (didn't care for the third but maybe I was growing out of it). They're more synth-pop oriented stuff, more akin (though not as good, I don't think) to 'His n Hers' era Pulp t... More... Haines' biting lyrical sensibilities are present, though he's not singing so I feel it lost a bit in translation. He also recorded a couple of solo albums and a soundtrack or two, all of which (though not bad at all) aren't quite as great in my opinion as his work under the Auteurs flag. Here's hoping they get back together for some gigs some day (though I doubt they'd make it stateside...not sure enough people would care).
